Adblockers are going to update to avoid being detected, and/or people will create extensions or scripts to fool adblock detectors. Stuff like that has existed for a long time, I don't know if any of it works on youtube's detection method though. Either way it's just gonna turn into an arms race.
This is a really dumb move by Google since the vast majority of internet users don't even know about adblockers and just accept ads as a part of life. By picking this fight they're gonna bring adblock discussion to the spotlight and more people will learn that they can block ads.

It's almost exclusively desktop users who can even install adblock, which is a pretty small portion of the youtube userbase, and of those who use adblock, the vast majority are bothered enough by ads that they will spend time figuring out how to work around the adblockblocker. Even those who put up with it were unlikely to actually click any ads. Youtube is trying to get a fraction of a fraction of their userbase to pay a few dollars for premium--even if this works, it's unlikely to increase profit margins in any noticeable manner. the biggest issue is the volume leveling. no youtube, I am not watching your ads that are set to absurd volumes that they LITERALLY damage my eardrums. fix your audio levels so I either don't have my eardrums blown the fuck out while using headphones or get woken up by sharp loud noises when going to sleep with a vod on and then maybe I'll condescend to entertain the idea of tolerating your ads.
Until then get fucked. nothing you offer is something I can't live without. it's sludge, even vtubers. just disposable mindless entertainment to pass the tedium that is life in a world utterly awash with such things.

This may be a bit of a layman question, but can't people just make a new adblocker? I swear sites have been blocking adblockers addons for years, and with a new update/new addon altogether it just ends up bypassing that.
