As a Vtuber fan who had become a gachikoi before, I've always imagined that someday I will meet and make a relationship with my oshi... Then I realize that my oshi actually is more normie than me. Absolutely, because if you're not physically in Japan and seeking out one of the few remaining jiu-jitsu schools that have preserved their traditional systems rather than just adopting Kano's modifications and becoming Judo schools, it's very unlikely that what you're being taught is anything like the jiu-jitsu that was developed for those more warlike periods in Japan's history.
You'd be better off finding a BJJ or Judo school, as what they're teaching genuinely offers a lot more of what makes it viable as a combat art, and offers lots of pressure testing via randori and competition to actually get better at effectively applying the techniques against a resisting opponent.
