potential creation myth for mountains from /horni/:

Chuubas with massive tits envied the flat lands of Vitubia and felt that they were not properly represented in the land. Therefore they raised the earth and created mountains in the image of themselves. Those that are extremely horny made sure their mountains are capped with snow to represent their aerolas.

It is because of this that nature is constantly horny about mountains and thus the top of mountains always have cold winds around them because nature blows cold air on them to make sure the peaks of mountains always stay hard.

Just because culturally mountains have associations with big boobs doesn't mean titty monsters only live on mountains and flats could have ancestral claims even if the rounds have adopted it today. I see! I don't know if that helps, but I wouldn't view those as filler at all. Moment without tension are just as important imo, their contrast with what follows is what makes the tenseness real, right? You need them to do stuff like developing characters and their relationships, showing a facet of their backgrounds or personality. Or it can be an opportunity to do some worldbuilding with an angle you haven't explored yet. They're also a great moment to innocently foreshadow the actually intense shit that will go down later on.
Or another classic is to have the character recount, remember, or dream about a past tense moment. Like they're having a discussion with another person and share a bit of past trauma. That has the benefits of both a tense and a relaxed scene, in many ways.

Tense tense chapter! I think I see the intermission section you were talking about, the part where MC question's possum girl's motives? I thought that was well done, nice use of the "left aligned, right aligned, center aligned voices in my head" thing. Establishing MC as terminally online is ideal for a self-insert on here I think...
Speaking of MC, I feel like he's increasingly losing it and becoming more dependent on his captor. Stockholm syndrome is great! At least he's learned how to deal with reflections, nice bit of development.
So the "thing"... My interpretation is that is was some kind of biological being which lived thanks to the life support integrated in its suit. Looks like it lived in a low-oxygen atmosphere? Some kind of bioengineered soldier? Or one who got crippled such that he can only survive in this state? Or maybe some non-human life form. Interesting!

The part where I got stuck’s actually between throwing the first bait in the chapter to (you) getting found along the second bait. Since the idea’s for (you) to keep repeating it, I couldn’t figure out a way to not make it redundant so I ended up adding a bit more about (you)r train of thought while stumbling upon junks someone left behind
I guess in a way (you) have always been dependent on her, just that with reality keep sinking in, (you) feel more and more out of depth in a hopeless situation where she is the only one who seem capable enough to survive AND not want to kill (you) right away. Of course it’s also possible that everything that’s happening also draws (you) to her, whether directly or indirectly
The identity of the thing’s meant to be ambiguous but some signs I left in the writing implied it to be the girl (you) encountered in the eponymous chapter. You can probably pick up a few hints in the writing with that knowledge. It might actually be fun to see if you find all of them though it ultimately does not matter much given how this chapter ends. Part of me wonders if I make the suspense end way too quickly but I’m glad you enjoy it!

It’s funny you mentioned that since when I first started writing the story I didn’t know much about radiation poisoning. I did my reps and now I think part of the reasons I wanted to end this part sooner’s because that way I can undo my reps sooner. Back when I learned about the world through vidya I assumed that radiation could actually melt people into green goo, but later I thought that’s just vidya’s usual tenuous connection to real life science. It’s only after I did my reps on acute radiation poisoning (I like Wendigoon’s video) that my perception loops back to flesh-melting radiation
I tweaked many of the effects like onset time to fit the plot and atmosphere but from what I can tell all of them can be achieved with specific ranges of dosage. The reason why she keeps repeating that line’s because it’s true according to the charts I found
Apart from (you) and (you)r surprise companion, everyone (you) met so far have received a lot more radiation than the guaranteed fatal dosage. The guard and potentially that 2nd bait received more than 80 Gy since they were incapacitated very quickly while the girl officer received at least 20 Gy as her description implies she didn’t experience latent stage and might reach 50 Gy depending on interpretations. This is when the 100% lethal dosage’s around 10 Gy

Yeah, it's always wild when something wild like "you flesh sloughing off your bones" is actually exactly what happens factually. I learned about it doing reps on Hiroshima and Nagasaki a couple years back. It's neat that you kept track of that! Now I'm wondering if anyone else got as lucky as the two prisoners on the ship. Maziz (Mozzies) were the Sana antis in /nasa/ lore. The Sana antis were originally called that, but in the current era "Maziz" refers to a different (though somewhat related by ancestry) set of people.
Same with "Spletnokii" (corrupted Russian for "rumor-spreaders") fitting with how the Owl Republic uses some Russian-esque names in their lore. The term was first used during the invasion to describe all schizos, but nowadays refers to only one tribe/nation of schizos.

That isn't entirely correct. The way black holes trap light is in fact a lot more, how should I say this, metal?
So basically, you've probably seen some simulation of space objects and there was this grid they were on, right? That is our visual representation of spacetime, or space itself would be a more common term. Think of it as a trampoline.
So an interesting thing that happens between this spacetime and objects with high mass (stars, planets, black holes, etc.) is that the gravity of the objects actually bends spacetime, and this is often represented by said objects kinda making a dent in that grid we mentioned before. Think of it as putting something heavy on a trampoline.
So when it comes to light, these bends in spacetime actually "curve it". Technically, the light is still going straight, it's just that the space it's traveling on isn't straight. So with the trampoline analogy, imagine if you rolled a small ball across it while that heavy object was still on it. The path of the ball would curve a little. This is all very oversimplified, but it will get the point across.
So how do black holes trap light then? Simple. Their gravity is so strong that spacetime not only curves, but, after the event horizon, which is that last bit of light before it's all black in the black hole, curves into itself! This means that despite light traveling straight and as fast as it always has, once it passes the event horizon, it cannot escape because the space it's traveling on will keep looping into itself, effectively trapping it.

I would absolutely love to write a guide but I simply don't know enough about relativity or black holes to say, what i do know is extremely shallow surface level knowledge.

Another fun fact you can think of is that there exists a point near the event horizon of a black hole where light can perfectly orbit the event horizon, meaning that in theory, you could look forward past the event horizon and see the back of your own head.

With spinning black holes there is also a distance where photons are stationary relative to the surface coordinates of the event horizon. You could imagine it as photons being on a geostationary orbit around a black hole, so from the spinning reference frame of the black hole, one could "detect" the light to be stationary. Afaik, this shouldnt break any rules since we are talking about a non-inertial reference frame and those do fucky stuff

Although in this example, at least in my undertanding, the photon would be stationary in the reference frame of someone looking from the outside, while in the black hole's reference frame (which, mind you, is spinning), the photon is orbiting the black hole.

To continue from this, because I forgot about it yesterday, the real fun stuff starts when you apply time to this model.
Basically, light always takes the shortest path possible from A to B.
And light also always travels at a constant speed, 299 792 458m/s, no matter what.
So how would this then work if one light particle travels on straight spacetime and one goes through one of these bends, both traveling from the same point A and arriving to the same point B?
Well, since both particles are traveling at the same speed, but the one going through a bend is seemingly taking a longer route, you would think it would arrive to point B slower than the other particle, right? Wrong!
