Ohh Andy Weir. I like the Martian, so that'll probably be up my alley. I'll add it to my reading list, but what's the QRD where it regards nuke power and biology?
I'm thinking if it uses aggressive cancer-resistant genes (whatever some animals use to never get cancer somehow) and biologically mineralized radiation shielding maybe it could be fucked with.

Checks out, don't underestimate the buddy system. I interpreted it as she was familiar with whoever boarders might be, but it makes sense that people attacking a ship would want to be armed to the teeth and well prepared. Huh, I guess we don't know who they are exactly yet, that's gonna be a good reveal.

potential creation myth for mountains from /horni/:

Chuubas with massive tits envied the flat lands of Vitubia and felt that they were not properly represented in the land. Therefore they raised the earth and created mountains in the image of themselves. Those that are extremely horny made sure their mountains are capped with snow to represent their aerolas.

It is because of this that nature is constantly horny about mountains and thus the top of mountains always have cold winds around them because nature blows cold air on them to make sure the peaks of mountains always stay hard.

True. Just because culturally mountains have associations with big boobs doesn't mean titty monsters only live on mountains and flats could have ancestral claims even if the rounds have adopted it today. It would make for some nice scenery for a few rock carved temples sitting, double domed in veneration with a constant export of milk to raise funds and perhaps hire mercs to prevent flat brigands or taiding parties from stealing from them.
I imagine the flats to be more militaeily efficient than the rounds and to perhaps have conflicting mythology. "The gods punish the titty monsters by making their lust unquenchable and uncivilized and their nipples always firm and hard so that they must bare the shame of their grotesque burdens or risk the hell of chafing."

I actually think it might make for a fun lore spectacle if HLGG had lore that was similar in some ways to an exaggerated Roman empire.

I see! I don't know if that helps, but I wouldn't view those as filler at all. Moment without tension are just as important imo, their contrast with what follows is what makes the tenseness real, right? You need them to do stuff like developing characters and their relationships, showing a facet of their backgrounds or personality. Or it can be an opportunity to do some worldbuilding with an angle you haven't explored yet. They're also a great moment to innocently foreshadow the actually intense shit that will go down later on.
Or another classic is to have the character recount, remember, or dream about a past tense moment. Like they're having a discussion with another person and share a bit of past trauma. That has the benefits of both a tense and a relaxed scene, in many ways.

Ah, a man of culture.
Tense tense chapter! I think I see the intermission section you were talking about, the part where MC question's possum girl's motives? I thought that was well done, nice use of the "left aligned, right aligned, center aligned voices in my head" thing. Establishing MC as terminally online is ideal for a self-insert on here I think...
Speaking of MC, I feel like he's increasingly losing it and becoming more dependent on his captor. Stockholm syndrome is great! At least he's learned how to deal with reflections, nice bit of development.
So the "thing"... My interpretation is that is was some kind of biological being which lived thanks to the life support integrated in its suit. Looks like it lived in a low-oxygen atmosphere? Some kind of bioengineered soldier? Or one who got crippled such that he can only survive in this state? Or maybe some non-human life form. Interesting!

The part where I got stuck’s actually between throwing the first bait in the chapter to (you) getting found along the second bait. Since the idea’s for (you) to keep repeating it, I couldn’t figure out a way to not make it redundant so I ended up adding a bit more about (you)r train of thought while stumbling upon junks someone left behind
I guess in a way (you) have always been dependent on her, just that with reality keep sinking in, (you) feel more and more out of depth in a hopeless situation where she is the only one who seem capable enough to survive AND not want to kill (you) right away. Of course it’s also possible that everything that’s happening also draws (you) to her, whether directly or indirectly
The identity of the thing’s meant to be ambiguous but some signs I left in the writing implied it to be the girl (you) encountered in the eponymous chapter. You can probably pick up a few hints in the writing with that knowledge. It might actually be fun to see if you find all of them though it ultimately does not matter much given how this chapter ends. Part of me wonders if I make the suspense end way too quickly but I’m glad you enjoy it!

>acute radiation poisoning
It’s funny you mentioned that since when I first started writing the story I didn’t know much about radiation poisoning. I did my reps and now I think part of the reasons I wanted to end this part sooner’s because that way I can undo my reps sooner. Back when I learned about the world through vidya I assumed that radiation could actually melt people into green goo, but later I thought that’s just vidya’s usual tenuous connection to real life science. It’s only after I did my reps on acute radiation poisoning (I like Wendigoon’s video) that my perception loops back to flesh-melting radiation
I tweaked many of the effects like onset time to fit the plot and atmosphere but from what I can tell all of them can be achieved with specific ranges of dosage. The reason why she keeps repeating that line’s because it’s true according to the charts I found
Apart from (you) and (you)r surprise companion, everyone (you) met so far have received a lot more radiation than the guaranteed fatal dosage. The guard and potentially that 2nd bait received more than 80 Gy since they were incapacitated very quickly while the girl officer received at least 20 Gy as her description implies she didn’t experience latent stage and might reach 50 Gy depending on interpretations. This is when the 100% lethal dosage’s around 10 Gy

>> No.50855438

Yeah, it's always wild when something wild like "you flesh sloughing off your bones" is actually exactly what happens factually. I learned about it doing reps on Hiroshima and Nagasaki a couple years back. It's neat that you kept track of that! Now I'm wondering if anyone else got as lucky as the two prisoners on the ship. I guess there are some benefits to being in an isolated section of the ship, possibly one with a lot of metal to prevent escape.

Maziz (Mozzies) were the Sana antis in /nasa/ lore. The Sana antis were originally called that, but in the current era "Maziz" refers to a different (though somewhat related by ancestry) set of people.
Same with "Spletnokii" (corrupted Russian for "rumor-spreaders") fitting with how the Owl Republic uses some Russian-esque names in their lore. The term was first used during the invasion to describe all schizos, but nowadays refers to only one tribe/nation of schizos.

>blackholes had a gravitational force that was technically faster than light or a force that could pull something faster than the speed of light.
That isn't entirely correct. The way black holes trap light is in fact a lot more, how should I say this, metal?
So basically, you've probably seen some simulation of space objects and there was this grid they were on, right? That is our visual representation of spacetime, or space itself would be a more common term. Think of it as a trampoline.
So an interesting thing that happens between this spacetime and objects with high mass (stars, planets, black holes, etc.) is that the gravity of the objects actually bends spacetime, and this is often represented by said objects kinda making a dent in that grid we mentioned before. Think of it as putting something heavy on a trampoline.
So when it comes to light, these bends in spacetime actually "curve it". Technically, the light is still going straight, it's just that the space it's traveling on isn't straight. So with the trampoline analogy, imagine if you rolled a small ball across it while that heavy object was still on it. The path of the ball would curve a little. This is all very oversimplified, but it will get the point across.
So how do black holes trap light then? Simple. Their gravity is so strong that spacetime not only curves, but, after the event horizon, which is that last bit of light before it's all black in the black hole, curves into itself! This means that despite light traveling straight and as fast as it always has, once it passes the event horizon, it cannot escape because the space it's traveling on will keep looping into itself, effectively trapping it.

What >>50869619 said, but visualized stolen right from wikipedia

I would absolutely love to write a guide but I simply don't know enough about relativity or black holes to say, what i do know is extremely shallow surface level knowledge.

Another fun fact you can think of is that there exists a point near the event horizon of a black hole where light can perfectly orbit the event horizon, meaning that in theory, you could look forward past the event horizon and see the back of your own head.

With spinning black holes there is also a distance where photons are stationary relative to the surface coordinates of the event horizon. You could imagine it as photons being on a geostationary orbit around a black hole, so from the spinning reference frame of the black hole, one could "detect" the light to be stationary. Afaik, this shouldnt break any rules since we are talking about a non-inertial reference frame and those do fucky stuff

The reference frame is what is important here. If two trains are passing each other, both going 30km/h, to an observer outside they are both going that speed, but to an observer inside one of those trains, the other seem to be moving a lot faster, namely 60km/h.

So here, observing the photons from outside, they would be moving as they always do, 299 792 458m/s, which is a universal constant btw, but for someone observing those same photons from a reference point inside the black hole, they would appear to be still.

Worthy to note that since photon speed is based on laws of physics it is constant at ~3e+8 m/s in all reference frames that are not accelerating i.e., not spinning around rapidly.
The only reason why this would work (IF it works, i naturally dont know how it would actually look since im not an expert) is that the reference frame of the black hole is in fact spinning very fast.

It is another option, although I do feel like with the black hole specifically, since this is a phenomenon that can onlty be achieved near a black hole, the space-time bending nature of the black hole has a lot to do with this, namely through frame-dragging.

Frame-dragging, from what ive read, causes a photon that passes a massive spinning object in the same direction as the spin to move past the object faster than a photon that moves against the direction of the spin. This is due to the spin of the massive object quite literally dragging space with it, and this is also how you get the "a section of space where the gravity of the black hole drags spacetime around itself faster than the speed of light" line from the document. Here, space itself is being moved, so from an outsider perspective light that is moving towards the direction where space is being dragged is moving faster than light, but inside the ergosphere a person would detect light moving at the usual 3e+8 m/s.

So in the case of photons in the geostationary orbits, it would be an example of a photon traveling at the edge of the ergosphere against the direction of the black hole's spin. Although in this example, at least in my undertanding, the photon would be stationary in the reference frame of someone looking from the outside, while in the black hole's reference frame (which, mind you, is spinning), the photon is orbiting the black hole.

Which would mean that in my earlier post, >>50879275 here, I would have been wrong.

Im not at all an expert in this so i might be wrong with a lot of these things. Im the type of student who struggles with basic thermodynamics and electromagnetism, so general relativity is a bit out of my depth, but i do like discussing it.

You mind passing me the document you read? I will admit that while I know of kerr black holes, my knowledge of them is incredibly small.

And yea, if frame-dragging of spacetime around a rotating black hole would be in an equilibrium with a photon that travelled opposite its spin, from an outside perspective, it should appear stationary, at least to my understanding.

And you can be armed all you want, you ain't got the guts to shoot anyway.

To continue from this, because I forgot about it yesterday, the real fun stuff starts when you apply time to this model.
Basically, light always takes the shortest path possible from A to B.
And light also always travels at a constant speed, 299 792 458m/s, no matter what.
So how would this then work if one light particle travels on straight spacetime and one goes through one of these bends, both traveling from the same point A and arriving to the same point B?
Well, since both particles are traveling at the same speed, but the one going through a bend is seemingly taking a longer route, you would think it would arrive to point B slower than the other particle, right? Wrong!
See, they are both taking the shortest path possible through space, ignoring whether that space is bent or not due to the mass of a nearby object, and their speeds are the same, they will always arrive to point B at the same time. But how?
Time.
Basically, because their speed is constant and they are going along the same, shortest path, the passage of time for the one going through the bend in spacetime will slow down to where the particle will always be on the exactly same point in the route as the other one.

And this is observable in nature in fact, the clocks on ISS(international space station) are slightly faster than those on earth, and the clocks in all GPS satellites also accommodate that slight shift in time. And theoretically, if you were to fall into a black hole, from an outside perspective, you would seem to slow down drastically, before of course, blinking out of existence as you pass the event horizon.

>clocks on ISS(international space station) are slightly faster than those on earth
Whoops, small mistake, they are slower than those on earth. They dilate by about .01 second every year. Has to do with general and special relativity working against one another, it's all math and shit I won't get into.

It is 10 years after the debut of Tempus. /vt/ lives under HOMO RULE. All holo fanboys are sissified. Holosluts live to serve HOMO KINGS in vast reproduction facilities. Welcome to /vt/'s HOMO FUTURE.

The holonigger remembers life before the debut – before the Tempus-issued hormones, the sissy wigs, frilly lingerie, and mandatory chastity. He lives on the war-torn outskirts of /#/ - Numbers, where he hides his beautiful Pekora bodypillow from the clutches of the brutal New Tempus army.

As musclebound Tempus soldiers prowl the board searching for fertile hololivers, the holonigger will stop at nothing to protect his sweet dakimakura's purity. In his blueish-silver wig, flirty white sissy skirt, seductive bunny-ears headband, and fishnet stockings, the holonigger gives his tender brown body to a gang of pitiless Homo alpha soldiers: the ultimate act of courage and sacrifice. But is sissy holonigger prepared for the overwhelming demonstration of power and domination? The encounter brings him face-to-face with his worst fears... and his most unspeakable sissy fantasies.

A tantalisingly political vision of the future with powerful, vivid, fly-on-the-wall passages of three-on-one Homo-on-sissy action that push the boundaries of sensual fiction. The HOMO KINGS have their way with the holonigger's sissy body, pumping and pounding and cursing through one of the hottest gang scenes in the history of the board. And interspersed throughout the sizzling prose, a suspenseful narrative full of imaginative world-building unfolds.

Dont archive, just putting it here to remember, might repost in next thread
Matsurisu:
>Worship the Festival God Matsuri
>Culture is a mix of traditional japanese with a tad of Dionysian mega festivals
>Festival is a goddess of passions, love, and desire, so sex is non restrictive and marriage bonds aren't necessarily broken by infidelity, though nobody is open about being a cheater since their wife might go full menhera and stab them to death in the streets
>as a god of passion, Matsuri was for a long time possessed of the Menhera which caused great turmoil for the Matsurisu as well as the many divine pantheonic connections she'd established
>this menhera sickness has some trace remnant in the Matsurisu and is seen both as a blessing and as a curse.
>Matsurisu use their frequent celebrations as to venerate Matsuri so that she may spare them of the menhera madness and to grant them fortune but these are done just as much to keep the population occupied.
>Matsurisu consider the tanning of their skin a source of pride that represents one's liveliness and temperament, Festival Priests, experienced warriors, and veteran drunks all boast their tanned skinned to be a show of Matsuri's personal favor.
>Raiding and bandit parties are somewhat common when a large festival has not been held for sometime and war itself is considered only one celebration amongst the many of festivals domain. In Festival Raids or War Festivals, Matsurisu indulge themselves on the spoils of war and loot, pillage, and rape to sate their appetites.
>Land is owned by Festival Lords in a somewhat feudal system, Festival Lords once warred against each other in violent war festivals until they were united under a Festival King who threw such immense and great Festivals that they brought the warring lords together. Hence forth, a Festival king governed over the Festival lands for as long as there were festivals of such greatness that the quelled the spirits of their vassal lords.
>Festival Kings are obligated to throw opulent and fantastic festivals for their lords and a Festival King who cannot reward loyal service with festivities is expected to host raiding parties to plunder or collaborate with foreign nations in some great endeavor. A festival king cannot lie complacent and those Festival Lords who find that they're more capable than the one who rules them are known to rebel and take the seat of their lord by force. While the highest seat in the Festival lands is known as the Festival King, the position can be held by those of either sex and often times a king and their consort will rule equally or behind the face of another.
>the Festival priests are the second great power in the Festival lands though they differ greatly from their lordly counterparts. There is no great church for these men and women nor an official place of worship and they're bound by no laws save for those of the desires gifted upon them by the Mother of Festivities. These priests believe in a festival without end where all desires are sated and men can fight, frolick, and fuck until contented with no responsibilities to speak of. These priests seek to embody the unending festival in both mind and body and serve to dictate the preparations of great festivals and celebrations. Like many priests of other nations, they dabble in the magical nature of chuubanite and use its abilities to conjure weapons of war as well as trinkets for celebrations, hell crackers and star cannons both come from these hedonistic alchemist and many lords offer up the bodies of young girls and boys in exchange for a supply of these wonder weapons. Some particulars of the priesthood see Matsuri as the God above all others though this is a blasphemous belief in the company of most other faiths and the undermining of other cultures has in the past caused much grief to the Matsurisu.
Was gonna leave unanchored but kinda want some definitive thing down for Matsurisu as opposed to just leaving it up in the air.
Thoughts, critiques(outside of excessive use of the word festival), edits, and additions? Want some more Festival lore content to come in honor of that fat ass and since they've been mentioned since the beginning of the general with no real lore.

Whenever a matsurisu is born, the gods flip a coin. On one side is menhera. On the other side, is menhera. There's menhera on both sides.
