Physical robots controlled by motion capture. Vtubers can have physical "live appearances" controlling a robotic body that looks just like their model and interact with fans as if they were actually there. Mini models of the vtuber will become available so you can have a tiny one that plugs into a USB port and stands on your desk, imitating your oshi's movements and voice as she streams. The tech will be more useful in other areas though, vtubing will get it started and developed enough that it can be used in real industries.

Imagine going to a convention and your oshi is there, in a robot body. Perhaps the real actress is backstage, or perhaps in Japan, it doesn't matter. Her avatar is there. With mocap she can sing and dance onstage like a real person. Through a VR headset, she can see through the avatar's eyes. Through touch-feedback gloves she can interact with her environment. She can talk to you. She can sign autographs. She can shake your hand and give you a hug.
Physical telepresence is the big prize at the end of the tunnel, guys.

AI generating high quality models for free (or at least zero marginal cost). Iterations on technology like "mocopi" so people in their homes can, for a few hundred bucks, have 3d motion tracking currently only available in studios wearing expensive gear.

Holograms will become more common at concerts and conventions, but very niche in the home environment.

I don't think AI vtubers will be a common one to many thing like Neuro-sama with thousands of viewers. Instead AI "vtubers" will be one-to-one, tailored to the individual viewer.
