As a fellow hikki NEET I can tell you that this is just how it is. I always preferred staying at home, but I had no problem with going out if I had to. In some circumstances I even enjoyed it. Now even checking my mailbox is exhausting to me. I even let a packet (not Shondo's merch, I would die for that) get returned to sender because I just really didn't want to go to the post office. I never had any traumatic experience that could have caused my behavior. Admittedly, in my case OCD plays a role too, but I imagine being her mental illness is contributing to her hikki life at least partially as well.
