I don’t know how fixable this is on your end, but I’ve noticed that the “next world tick”countdown starts to go negative after it hits 0 instead of resetting to the next tick. Sometimes if I leave the tab alone for long enough I’ve also seen it display almost 24 hours remaining when I come back to it, which is clearly incorrect. Oh yeah, I figured that'd be an issue at some point. It makes a static "target time" when the page loads and then ticks down to it, but never re-updates the target. Does fix itself if you refresh the page though. It's somewhere on the todo to fix it, thanks for the report.

Adding layers to ballistic defence, even if the projectile pierces them, still reduces the impact. Generally, if it can reduce the projectile speed enough the projectile may deviate on its course between impacting the cloak and the body of the mech. In the case of beam weaponry, assuming that they are conventional lasers, not hot gas you could use a reflective cloak to dissipate energy. Ponchos and cloaks are also just generally good to provide protection from harsh elements such as acid rain, hail, extreme cold winds etc.

As for melee combat I would consider them more of a hindrance than a useful tool but you could always prove that wrong, just need to develop a mech melee combat manual in order to create a fighting style around using it. Things like the mordhau grip were thought to be myths until they were found in combat manuals, so you can make the justification self evident just by providing historical precedence.

I remember a fencing technique that used a cape as a distraction to disarm your opponent. You wrap the thick cloth cape around the sword and the blade gets trapped. Won't work for bigger swords because the blades don't bend. Plus bigger swords are usually in lock gauntlets. Thick capes might work for hammers and maces if they're not sharp.

Ah, reflective coats is a neat and good idea! Gold foil is commonly used to make space mirrors, so some kind of golden mirror coat could be a high tech extension of that idea. Would look pretty cool in use too.

Ahoy, I have been a lurker and anonymous poster for quite some time now and wish to write for my wife, Marine. Done many worldbuilding projects in the past, but i'm not that good of a writer imo. Nonetheless, i followed the prompts, and thought about /ahoy/ as a thread to come up with a basic intro that probably will be changed over time and wrote this up over the past week in preparation. I do have some questions for ya tho.

1. Can I have my nation moved to somewhere else to which I find to be better? The current spot for me is hard to envision for what I have planned. I would rather have a number of islands and maybe a small part of the north mainland. I'll show it on the more detailed map in a reply.

2. How do you write with other nations in world? I see others doing it, but out of respect, i wish to understand what generally you think are the standards for that.

Quick dev update:
Big apologies everyone. I really meant to get the new update pushed this weekend but one pretty big bug came up and I didn't want to release something half baked. It's 90% done and assuming I can't either fix the bug or side-step it, I should be able to push out the new feature in the next couple of days.

Game details:
New mechanic will be:
- Surveyor Guild: 400 Commodity, 100 Luxury. Unlocks Expeditions.
- Expeditions: 10 Luxury, 50 Commodity. Target any resource node in your Country. Next 5 ticks you are guaranteed to get a trader that will yield resources from that node at a severely reduced cost.

Tech details:
The new mechanic is just a quick thing to test the new backend system. Essentially I abstracted out "cause and effect" for UI elements on the site. Seems trivial, but it gives parts of the UI an entire lifecycle (from graphics, to database, to game logic, and back to graphics) on the site, which should hopefully streamline adding new things to the game going forward.

I present you, the Indie COntinent in the Year 0 of Vitubia.

Legend:
Blue = JP Nations
Yellow = /wvt/ affiliated Nations

We got some ideas for setting some history up for the Indie Continent where the barbarian hordes of the west went and conquered the indie continent form the /jp/ nations over the course of 3-4 centuries and when they where halfway done, the JP natiosn finally realised they simply could not defeat them as is and thus they went and used some JP tech, don't ask, to literily RIP APART THE CONTINENT INTO TWO in an even known as "The Sundering".

But it came a bit too alte and soem Barbarians Invaders still where on the Southern Continent, however beign stranded away from their main forces weakened them enough to a point that JP nations could survive till today for one reason or another.

These stranded Invaders however got more exposed to the way of the JP nations and less from the /wvt/ ways and thus began developing their own unique culture and idealogy, and thus the small corpos as their own came to be

On an Earthlike planet, it allows for very slightly higher levels of solar wind to get to the earth instead of being deflected by the magnetic field while the switch is happening, but it's not too intense. You could imagine a planet where the effect is more dramatic though, if the magnetic field and solar winds were both stronger.
