Why can’t big corpos like cover and niji let their talent design their models? They definitely have the money for it since the jew corp which is much smaller was able to do it. That way, you won’t have people like Kronii trying to hide their tits every stream that way.

Imagine if all 5 members were inspired by the latest fad and they all showed up to debut wearing the same outfit.

Look at how many hololive members prefer their casual outfits. You'd just end up with that.

The designs are there to appeal to the targeted demographic, not to appeal to the vtuber. That being said, they should allow them to have more input.

Sounds like they give a lot of input on their first alt outfits.

I prefer the current way of coming up with a good design first and then finding a "talent" to fill that role after.

Yeah, it sucks when you get stragglers like Kronii or Anya, but for the most part, noone really stands out as miscast

Obviously they should be given a general theme/concept to build their characters around, but they should be able to control how their character fits that theme. Like flare should be a half elf girl regardless, but she can control stuff like her skin color to make herself look more cute which is the problem she had with her main outfit, it looked too cool instead of cute. I’m pretty sure that’s what idol did and it worked great for them

Because unless they're artistically inclined, entertainers are generally pretty bad at those types of decisions. It also tends to be difficult to judge what other people perceive of you vs what you perceive of yourself. Not to mention it takes extra time and money to work with someone that doesn't necessarily know what they want either (which is typically the case).

I see that a lot of people have worries about the girls producing a bad design, but the design will have to go through an artist anyways and any artist worth their commission cost will make it work/make some changes. They don't gotta have a say on every little aspect, just change some details and say no if they wanna become the 50th catgirl with massive tits in the company

Because that way the corpos have even more right to dissociate the IP from the talent and take away it easily if the time comes. Reinforcing the idea that the character belongs to the corpo and not to the talent.

That's it. The rest of the reasons here are mostly bullshit.

Japanese companies generally don't listen to employees so Yagoo effectively
makes all the rules. He could let hololive talents pick from a pool of models since if Nijisanji can afford that it would certainly be possible for hololive. That compromise would at least avoid huge fights lasting years until Cover reluctantly gives them a redesign.

>>47127901
If they are under contract with the corpo it doesn't matter if a vtuber or a famous artist designs the model. Legally they own it either way.

Because part of the big draw for new members is their artists having made a design. Unless you mean like the talent provides a few keywords to include and then the artist does their thing.
For example: Polka
>Fennec Ears and Tail
>Blonde
>Circus

They can put whatever they want in the contract, if the talent has more participation in the creation of the IP, more of what they usually have, they can actually put said corpo in trouble. Not to mention that trying to take away a design that the talent made by him or herself would make more people realize how shady the corpos are.

By stopping talents from making their own designs, they can go "oohhh wait, you can't be angry, you didn't made that character, we provided it for you, see?" when they want to strip it from you.

Because 90% of women interested in anime will pick a catgirl, pink hair, or a pinkhaired catgirl.
Also letting professional artists make a design is far better than someone with no art skills try to make a design. Look at any OC donut steel, even a great artist make characters that look like shit if following a bad commission

>Not to mention that trying to take away a design that the talent made by him or herself would make more people realize how shady the corpos are.
That corpo vtubers don't own their model is shady but that would make it more obvious. Idol allows their talents to design their Live2D models so Cover and Nijisanji could legally do the same. Whether the vtuber has a graduation or gets fired their NDA stops them from saying anything negative about their previous employer.

I don't think you know how contracts work. A talent could literally draw and rig their own model but not have the rights to use it unless the company says so. But we're not even talking about "design" in that manner; the thread is just talking about what amounts to mere suggestions for the artists actually creating their model.

>> No.47142699

>>47136676
>That corpo vtubers don't own their model is shady but that would make it more obvious.
Exactly. Idol is a small corpo and as such needs to give more freedom to their talents otherwise it wouldn't be attractive for them to work at it. They're willing to give that concession. But big corpos will not and that's why they allow it.

>>47140325
>I don't think you know how contracts work.
You can't put anything you want on a contract. If what you're putting there contradicts one law of the hundreds that exist you can be taken for a ride. The more someone collaborates to create an IP the more possibility that said someone can claim rights to it or at least claim proper compensation. Big corpos know that and are just covering themselves for above their talents. Believing that corpos do this because they care about the designs, colours or whatever on the character is beyond stupid and ingenuous.

It's so easy for companies to have control over artwork and concepts, because otherwise commercial studios and artists wouldn't exist.
