Yea, they probably wanted to the corpo to not give them 3d and use the money for ads instead. However, that set things back and I think Kawaii's CEO want to promote and gain fans through special events such as 3d live rather than ads. Who knows which is a better philosophy. 3d and 3d live is a better service for the fans though. Koshita, the CEO, is a vtubing fan himself, so he probably prefer the path that can give extra to the fans.
