I mean it depends really. That's why I think Hololive should split their massive concert into two just like Bloom. Bloom was experimental in nature, and in my opinion, worked great as a testing ground for voices and genre.

Regular collab wise, yeah why not. Reaction to Kiara collab was pretty ok, Mumei is pretty great. Towa is just people's person, and who knows if she can work out something with mori. Think of it the same like Crylix or Selly, it was pretty worrisome for most people back then, and it turned out okay in the end.

Holofes can stay as the "main course" for the usual tasting menu, so the audience enjoys their expectation. Which is why Towa "Mix" concert was really enjoyable so far. Hololive desperately needs their own "Mix", like Bloom, as a regular event. It doesn't even have to be a live venue. If people don't like it, just call it a one off thing then go search for new pairings/group.

Honestly this is part of the reason why I like it, and also Dasupi for the same reason. Towa can't really do those types of songs by herself, but in a group she still works well. It's a nice extra avenue for her to have more variety with the songs she can sing.

The thing is PEBOT's more of a streaming unit, they perform together at the smaller lives but at its core it's stronger as a gaming group or maybe for 3D skits. Suityan's main focus is on music and performance so obviously both Startend and Dasupi are more of idol units.

I want to add Towa should really start exploring other genre. Rock ballad is great, but she should really consider branching out of her comfort zone. Startend feels like there is a lot of barrier of what kind of song they can perform.

I think last year had a lot more impact because it was pretty unexpected, this year Startend was kind of the expectation I feel. Obviously there were other options, but eventually they were all eliminated so Startend was more or less guaranteed. I still feel like it was pretty hype to be honest though, the cheer for them was one of the loudest of the night, and that's with everyone pretty much already knowing what was coming.

if i had to say why people like startend, i'd say there's three main drivers:

1) Idol Power. The three of them have some really high idol power, with Sui and Towa high in peoples' singing perception as well as Aqua being the mega moe character for a while.
2) Trials and tribulations arc. People like seeing their chuubas work hard on something and build a bond that way. Some of the best kino of any apex tournament isn't the end result but rather how they get there (ex. most kino moment of CandyPop wasn't the win but the part where Cpt and Noah protected Towa during the earthquake). For many non-Towa fans, this was a new experience for them and it's a really powerful sort of drama that draws you in.

3) Sex appeal. Some holos just do not have sex appeal, sorry Pekora. The members of StartEnd have very high sex appeal in different ways, and also the fact that there's a balance between masculine traits and feminine traits helps the appeal to both men and women.

Again, I don't hate Startend, but I'll respond with a couple of counterpoints to this.
1) I just feel like Nene fills the role better than Aqua, with Dasupi you have Suityan as the strong singer and Nene as the strong dancer with Towa as the bridge between them. Aqua is great as an idol but to me she kind of feels like just that, a completely vanilla idol. She doesn't really stand out at all in either vocals or dancing. Also Dasupi putting together an entire actually live live for Christmas puts the idol power really high for me.
2) For the general non-Towa audience that doesn't have much experience with Apex tournaments this could be true. As a kenzoku it fucking sucked because they didn't fucking stream the "how they get there" and because Towa was stressed out as fuck the entire time. The whole burden and expectations of 200k tourists were placed on her as the only one with any experience, when anyone who knew anything about Apex tournaments knew they didn't have a chance in hell in the first place - especially since they couldn't have a coach because Aqua still has unicorns.
I think it's fine now and I definitely do understand why the general audience loves it but those are some of the reasons why I've always been a little sour on it.

You don't have to overcomplicate things. To be frank, most people don't know or care about the troubles Startend went through in the beginning. A lot of people, me included, just like Startend because it has Towa, Suisei, and Aqua. That's all there is to it. They're all very entertaining streamers and good singers. My interpretation of it is that the lost compass is a metaphor that one has lost their direction,, and same with the sand dunes and ocean-all are imagery that one would associate with being lost. The plant appears to be either an indigo flower or similarly "blue" plant. Blue has always been an interesting color in human cultures due in part to its rarity in many areas, including Japan and the West (having been reliant essentially on either indigo imported from India or ultramarine from mines in Central Asia which were all very expensive and rare). While in the West blue was typically associated with evil and barbarism (it was often used by those viewed by Rome as barbarians), in the East it was also viewed as a more unnatural color associated with the other world or outsiders in general. Given the fact that this project seems to be musically inclined and that we're talking about holos that likely saw themselves as outsiders at some point or another, and because I am a neutral party that is totally not biased towards SuiTowa sex, it's not hard to think that Suisei and Towa could easily fit into this project. Other candidates that I could see include Kanata, Nene, Laplus, Marine, Shion.
