I doubt many of them do have actual plans for when the gig is over. When I find out about some of them buying insane things or going on a bunch of trips I just think "man in a few years when either the group you're a part of folds, or you lose the drive to do this, what are you actually going to do?" I have to wonder if many of them think they'll actually be able to do this forever, or if they think they'll easily be able to do stuff like voice acting or solo musician work and coast just on the clout of their former identity. Then again, there are streamers and youtubers that have been around since youtube and twitch/justintv first launched that are still around and make millions, so who knows, maybe they can do this forever.

The smartest chuubas reinvest their money to build clout.
Take Selen for example. Self funded chibi avatar and NijiExpress, a VR world.
The smart chuubas in her org (Pomu, Rosemi, Luca) saw that and instantly got on board (no pun intended). Comissioned their own chibi models.
Later on went to self-fund Nijisanji Square, another VR world for her anniversary stream, bringing in more people in her org for HER event.
She recently self-funded Raptorlen, a JC model to tide dragoons over as she waits for her 3D.
Also commissions lofi songs Hope in the Dark, Black Out, Black Out Anthem, with full on music videos.
All while this is happening, she's shaking hands with ancillary content creators in the industry, like Kanauru and Tachibana and countless others, building good will as she writes the checks

Furthermore, she's constantly organizing largescale collabs, presenting herself as a leader.

Aside from her monkey, Pekora doesn’t buy any luxury items and has said she lived frugally and doesn’t really spend much money on anything. She also said she saves up lost of what she makes, and she isn’t one to make music videos like Kanata or other Holos and seeing as she doesn’t spend much I’d say she has quite a hefty amount of money in her bank. Even if she was to retire anytime soon she’d still probably be able to live comfortably for many years. Holos don’t usually talk about how much they make, but Kson said as an independent streamer she makes around 100k usd per month, Pekora has a lot of sponsorships and stuff so imagine she makes double that. 200k per month is over 2mil a year. Let’s say she pays around 50% of that in taxes, it would still leave her with over 1 million bucks each year. You can live comfortably in Japan with less than 2k usd per month. She’s pretty much set for life at this point.

Entertainment careers are very, very short lived. Actors, which are the closest real world entertainment careers you could compare streamers, vtubers to, all call it quits round there 30's - 40's besides the very few world famous ones. All the ecelebs from the 2000's are essentially gone.

The biggest draw most vtubers have is being the young, lol so random girl with the cute voice and relating to the current generation. Many don't have much going on besides that. Once they reach there 30's, they can't really fall back on that and will be out of touch with what ever memes gen alpha will have.
