You are going the Minvovsky particle route right? Since that's kind of specific I think only part of the technology will be shared. Since your particle would be produced specifically using space /vnug/ chuubanite while space /who/ is meant to be a nomadic people with only a few settlements that use tech that's more common and universal.

Despite our girls mostly being into Gundam I don’t think my approach actually mirror them a lot. I guess in a way space /vnug/’s chuubanite use in mecha would look like how the curse would be broken in Witch from Mercury but it also came with trade-off that may or may not dip into cosmic horror…
I haven’t decided on how the chuubanite would be harvested but my post a few threads ago kinda imply that it’s mined from an ancient strata of the planet. I think if the nebula has lotta chuubanite then so would the star’s stellar wind, which would mean Despina’s poles would have more chuubanite at the cost of it suffering more from solar wind bombardment

Since i already know what will happen because he got bullied into admitting it. No, Dragoon did not write that story at all. It was me, and I only went along with it because i wanted him to have credit for it because it doesn't matter if I am credited for anything and I would rather not make it about the person who wrote it but rather the content itself. I also love dragoon enough to want him to get the praise regardless, thus I went along with it.

I also did not lie at all, everything i said to him when i repied was 100% true. I think he is a wonderful writer and he does great work. I love to have him in the project, and he helped me so much in writing that I am willing to give him more credit than myself. If this troubles you, if you think it is falseflagging, if you think this is just awful behaviour or whatever charges you will line against me: idc. This project isn't about fame, nor is it about being a writer celeb. it's purely about fun, and I had fun and so did dragoon as we worked together.

Anyhow, aside from the basic technology I don't think /vnug/ mecha would be that similar to EMVVs. Not least due to the former originating on a planet. Though I did think about them also acting as amplifiers of the psychic powers of the pilot, though not without cost, maybe something like generating enormous amounts of heat. It's either the "force shield" for the mecha or they are simply used as another weapon or even a method for propulsion.

It’s not like Despina’s doing a lot to protect the people from that deadly laser of a sun… I imagine most /vnug/ mecha would be on the smaller side of things, probably somewhere in the range of Votoms and Titanfall mechs but thinner. Many of them would also have more non-combat functions that usually boils down to “not get killed by the sun”. As for mind power I guess many of the mecha would be controlled in a similar way by default although it’s done by plugging yourself into some kinda AI mind and either dive your senses and consciousness into it to control the humanoid mecha like it’s your body, or somehow guide the AI with your mind in some way to control non-humanoid mecha

Ah anon, I wanted to ask you, since you've done research on something related.
I have this concept for a planet that is too close to its star to have liquid water naturally, but mori chuubanite cools down the air and crust such that an habitable hydrosphere exists. Would be orbiting a large, bright O or B main sequence star.
Basically, even though there is liquid water, the daylight is strong enough to give you burns. Can you think of any implications for life or climate stemming from that?

I don’t know a lot about science and stuff but I think apart from heat the biggest threat from having a host star like that is that most of their light comes in the form of UV light. Since your planet’s closer to the star than the average habitable world it would only get even more UV light so life on your planet will have to handle that one way or another. Like they might become nocturnal to avoid sunlight entirely or have some kinda way to recover from bad sunburns! I don’t think it’ll create unusual climate though

Are there any sci fi ideas for void shields that have been floating around? I feel like they'd be pretty prevalent in terms of space combat but I haven't really heard good explanations for then in the sci fi media I watch outside of anti grav pseudo atmospheres and stuff like that

I had an idea for a short story about a /wAIfu/ catalognaut's relationship with a shiboard AI. His role is to connect to the ship, and work as a director for the shipboard AI.
And by connect, I mean he melts his consciousness together with the AI, becoming a single entity of two wills that work in tandem in a back and forth dance of intents.

The AI brings the motive force for this entity, while the man brings direction. Where he creates an order-structure, the AI fulfills it, and where the she pools power, the man imposes order on it. All the while sharing thoughts, senses, and emotions.

And this is how the ship is piloted.
I didn't intend it to have weird sexual undertones, but the more I thought about it the more intimate the scenario started to feel.

Okay, time to spec bio plants that are pink to reflect UV rays. I do enjoy the idea of mostly nocturnal wildlife, with a few species occupying diurnal niches with specific adaptations. I had some ideas for animals with metallized shells that would be able to reflect most of the light instead of absorbing it, but creatures that recover from them are fun too. Maybe animals that continuously grow ablative plating that they shed often as it becomes UV-damaged? Or maybe they're constantly sweating a substance that absorbs harmful rays, I think hippos do something like that to deal with the sun.
I think I need to do more thinking on the climate side, on one hand it seems like it could be modeled with just a kind of inverted green house effect, on the other hand maybe if the lower atmosphere is kept cooler but the higher atmosphere has less chuubanite and gets hot, weird stuff could happen. Since on the Earth the lower atmosphere tends to be warmer than upper (until you get to the thermosphere anyway, iirc).

If some writers would like to agree on a certain shield tech and archive that, that is good, but I don't think this really needs to be formalized in the ground truths. If another writer would like to use another method, other writers are free to acknowledge it or not. Imo any hard scifi tech (confined plasma, electromagnetic fields, circulating particulate clouds) is fine, and we can informally agree on one patanatural technique if we wish.

Educated guesses mostly. Thinking about which places would be the most attractive to people and which ares would be easier or more difficult to colonize.
So, centers of trade (central black hole) and industry (the central black hole, the star, asteroid belts, the gas giant).
Naturally inhabitable worlds (Valrakis, Irilar to a lesser extent) given some preference over others. Valrakis also due to its location near the 1st asteroid belt.
Large preference given to shallower gravity wells (habitats > moons > planets)

With Irilar the gravity well preference is flipped due to the dwarf planet being victim to frequent meteor bombardment, meaning that orbiting habitats in this area are at a greater risk of getting damaged, as is any habitation on the dwarf planet's satellites. Thus colonizing the subsurface oceans of Irilar would make the most sense there. I think.

Not much has been written or discussed but I'd say yeah. Maybe there are even new properties of chuubanite that can be implemented or as a basis of some technology. It's an AU so I say we can go nuts as long as it is consistent and still semi-realistic.
