EN and coco is making vtubing a global phenomenon. We keep using their terms and lingo. Engrish will be the new language of the world.

you should've absorbed nip into your brain as a natural byproduct of watching anime for 10-20 years before vtubers even existed, at least that's the path any real weeb would've taken

My eventual hatred of western women encouraged me to start learning Japanese:
>relied on clips but still watched JP streams
>Myth debuted
>mostly watched EN from that point
>EN got bad and destroyed everything I loved about vtubing
>switched back to JP and started learning conversational Japanese
It's not easy but it's still better than EN.

You will naturally learn a bit of JP the longer you watch them anyway. Just enough to know common terms as sufficient context to understand things.

Assuming you have a normal cognitive capacity anyway.

Don't waste your time learning a dead language. Half of JP members can barely read kanji.
Haato once streamed some imas mobile game and chat kept making fun of her because she literally couldn't read the dialogue. Can't believe they haven't switched to a sane writing system yet.

>>42372914
Much of that is kayfabe (like Miko purposefully misusing kana is part of her lore), Chammers was hamstrung by studying outside Japan but based on what other members say about her language skills she's a skilled polyglot. Korone only struggles when the game is purposefully using "old timey" kanji for world building. The kanji quiz shows they play on the main channel are like the Scripps spelling bee where the words are ones you've never heard of.

Because it's extremely contextual and there's no pitch accent markers. With kanji a sentence could technically be interpreted 6 ways (though only 3 of those are common) remove the kanji and it could be interpreted a dozen or more ways and you have to work to reduce it to those three common readings and then guess at which one it should be. it has a delightful elegance to it

>> No.42374893

Even weirder than that Japs develop an intuition for when certain sentences are ambiguous and will pick synonyms to avoid misunderstandings. Eg. kun readings are preferable in speech to avoid ambiguity. Written text use more on.

I started doing my reps before EN came out, and never stopped. I have realized why I could never get into EN chuubas: I don't actually find most streamers interesting most of the time. The extra mental tax of listening to one in another language is enough to keep that extra portion of my brain busy instead of it getting bored.
I expect if I eventually get good enough at Japanese I will lose interest as a result...
