They said that due to delays to recordings caused by various circumstances including the pandemic they wouldn't be able to do it. There is a difference between saying the schedule got delayed due to various reasons including COVID now we won't be able to finish recording in time and saying "COVID is too dangerous for us to hold a concert". The problem isn't that COVID is too dangerous now so we can't do it. The problem is that they are too far behind already to get it done by the date because they are behind schedule because of delays that already happened. The way the statement reads is that even if COVID wasn't a thing they wouldn't have the time to get it completed.
