Everything will be a joke or worse a train of references from the meme games they have been playing like Oblivion. Kiara will be frustrated because noone is serious. But having anime in most games reminds us either of our own or someone else playing the chuuni half-demon half-angel half-vampire with no parents, so its easier to reject the aesthetics. You really need the right system to do anime bullshit and a lot of people play that, hell, i'd get into it myself if my group would/could play anything other than d&d. I've been trying to run a JoJo game for years.

As long as they take it reasonably seriously, which i can expect from mori and ina at least, it should be worth the watch. character creation for world of darkness is different depending on what specie you are. With Vampires it took a long time because you had lots of abilities, clans, and powers you had to track. Hunter is more Regular Humans vs Supernatural so I doubt character creation is as complicated as Vampires, Werewolves, Mummies, Mages, etc.

WOD is a modern setting and character progression is really really slow. Your experience points are used to increase attributes, skills, and gain talents and abilities but the amount of exp you get per session is really low, like 3-5. To put in perspective increasing a skill is the new skill level times 3 and increasing an attribute is new level times 5.

I also remember damage adding up quickly; they have this weird system of checkmark boxes to indicate health but there's two types of damage superficial and aggravated. If you take superficial damage you fill in a box with a single slash until you fill in all the boxes. Once all the boxes have a single slash you begin at the first box again and add a second slash to indicated serious damage. Aggravated damage automatically fills a box with a double slash. Once all boxes have a double slash in them you're dead and on average you're going to have 5-6 boxes to work with and its quite easy to take 5 slashes of superficial damage or a few points of aggravated damage from a single source.

it's rules lite on a system with rules bloat where 90%of rules and content were irrelevant.
While the amount of things a given race gives you inherently has gone down and stat spreads have been homogenized, at least half of anything most races gave was useless outside of very specific niches and the new system is very "pick what you want" from a large list per race/heritage. Heritages also make more sense as a thing for the half breed races like tiefling, ganzi, or ifrit.
Classes are absolutely still a thing, it's just the base of what they have is lowered since, again, 1e classes had a bunch of shit you almost never used, so taking the elements of a given class and letting you pick and choose what you want makes sense. The fact that all archetypes now work with any class with the stats and prereqs for them is also great for build variety with all the combinations there are.
I heard it was rough on launch, but it seems to be in a good place now.
