Having a live sound mixing guy can do wonders for balancing and making stuff sound good on the fly. A live setup with one person can only sound so good regardless of the quality of the equipment because you just cannot monitor your sound very well yourself.

I know, but the gimmick is still pretty weak. It's a big deal because it's a big mainstream channel, I obviously got that (even though I don't give a shit about modern mainstream JP music, so it doesn't appeal to me at all).
I also don't think anyone who follow Suisei would be surprised by her performance. She's not only used to singing live but she also has nerves of steel. I guess it will be surprising for people who are knew to the vtuber thing and just happen to watch the performance.

It might not be a big deal to you but it's a huge deal to her. Not just representing herself but vtubers in general to a mainstream audience. Nerves of steel or not, she sang with that in mind and of course sang her damndest. But she actually found the premiere even scarier because she was worried what people outside of this subculture might think just because of the pretense that she's a virtual performer which carries a lot of preconceptions. If she messed up even a little I think she would've taken that very hard.

it's a little bit different. the preconception against vtubers is that they've gained they're popularity by being cute waifus and basically nothing else, and while to a certain degree that's true, streaming being the majority of the content output for almost all vtubers doesn't give many chances to discover vsingers. Meanwhile ado was immediately propped up by her singing, had no other content besides MVs to dilute the pool and had an avatar form for herself only over the course of multiple orisong releases.
