I think it will be the first really big push in a while. I'm just not sure if they can stand out when 50% of vtubers spam valorant or apex anyway. If they go for a failed/ex pro with bad screen presence I think it'll fail. If they go for someone who is better than average, a good entertainer and also a bit of a variety streamer. It could work.

I'm mostly interested to see if they go for a spread of genres or not. Will it be Apex, Apex, Valorant, LoL, Apex. Or will we get a fighting game and RTS player.

They could be the best streamers ever, if they only play apex/valo/LoL then I'm not interested, the appeal of a gamer wave would be exactly to have people who play more different stuff and maybe more interested in the industry to comment over news or announcements, but the general public don't want that so I wouldn't keep my expectations up

I think the gamer wave will be established by their lack of schedule. They'll be treated like Twitch streamers in that they play the game they're good at as much as they want for as long as they want, and aren't asked to make music or expected to participate in other shit.

The reason there haven't been any auditions is because they're doing exactly the same shit they pulled in 2018: release a gamer wave when the main branch is expected to get bogged down with multimedia projects and travelling, allowing the main branch to enter a cooldown period with no new members for a while. The next audition will be for female gamers. 100%.

I was thinking they might also go for a speedrunner, but that seems unlikely now. Women aren't into that kind of stuff and guys who watch speedrunners have many other talented streamers to choose from. Probably lots of permission issues as well. So yeah, it's likely going to just be valorant/apex players. I doubt niji is into COD/halo players since nobody seems to care about those games anymore.

That actually presents an interesting issue. Games do fall off and while skills are transferable sometimes you just don't click in the next big thing. I guess vtubers aren't a long term investment but a variety streamer stands a much better chance at staying afloat.

Yep. Hype has been dying down ever since Ethyria, the gen with no A-list chuubas,. Iluna was the nail in the coffin, and people don't even come to debuts anymore, because the magic just isn't there. They've lost good faith with other picks, like the tranny and the wigger.
