This is a genuine question, not fucking around.
Why is Hololive EN called Hololive anymore? Why are Holostars EN called Holostars? Neither feels like either. The girls don't have real goals, they don't act or feel like idols except for a withering few, they don't do big events where they really feel like a group. The guys don't hold themselves to any degree of a standard, they don't try to separate themselves from the girls and forge their own way. Neither group even takes pride in their work or what they make, again, except for very few. Neither of these groups feel like they're in any way related to the parent group that spawned them, both barely even collab with their senpai and frequently don't appear in their events. It feels like apart from a few times a year when they get put in one of the "real" Holo's stage appearances, they're just some weird, mutated thing shunted into the corner. Like some side character you remember exists that you used to like, but they don't feel like themselves anymore. The difference between JP and EN is just so vast now it feels morbid. What's the point of calling them by these names when even the management wants to just merge them and remove half of what made them what they were in the first place.
I'm just so tired at this point.
I think I'm seriously just going to double down on my reps and bury my head in JP shit until I understand it. Can any of you guys recommend how to do my listening JP reps? I'm okay with reading, but I can't parse words well or fast enough to listen properly.

The guys are functionally no different from Holostars JP, the only difference is that there are more girls in Hololive EN who are willing to interact with them than in Hololive JP. StarsJP also have no qualms with interacting with the Hololive JP girls who are okay with them, with for example Astel showing up unannounced in Kobo's streams multiple times, Aruran having Hololive JP girls participate in his big 3D variety streams, and Oga showing up as the only non-ID guest in Risu's 3D "debut" without any issues. They also collab extensively with Japanese indies and small corpos, who are effectively the JP equivalent of the terrible, no good """twitch whores""" that the Tempus guys have collabed with, and there's even a recurring joke that an entire all female JP small corpo is Roberu's harem.

Why do people who don't watch Holostars JP and know nothing about them keep bringing up them to shit on Tempus?

Kiara's as close to the JP idol experience as you're gonna get in EN. She had a rough start, busted ass to make up for it, had ups and downs, but managed to accomplish what she wanted to, 3d dancing on the big stage as an idol. Even before FES, her live singing at Dokome where she got to be the 'center' and do small skits/crowd interaction had her riding on a high note for weeks after. She's got a few more goals as Kiara, but it's starting to wind down. If you want a fun ride, just watch small chunks of streams of hers and watch the emotional rollercoaster she goes through when moving home from Japan, her lowest of low points emotionally, ans her spring back once she reconnects with old friends in Austria and has her main stage performance at Dokomi.
I really never understood idol shit until I watched her go through all of that and now I totally get why dummies can get all pumped up about watching their small-time Oshi grow.

The best way to describe starsJP is danshi nichijou + SideM, Tempus misses the male idol part completely and only Vesper and Axel do the bros part well, Magni is insufferable and Regis is the Astel of Tempus but without any talent that makes Astel endearable

Most of the holoEN members dislike the fake girlfriend part of idol culture and Cover was slowly moving away from that with the release of holostars and with management pushing for mixed gender events. The hololive New Years countdown includes holostars in a few of the songs so this isn't just the EN branch but a broader shift in hololive.
