Tried Steam version of Dwarf Fortress and the default alert settings are whack, clearly not very well thought out. For example migrants no longer cause a pause which easily makes you miss the brief window where their task is listed as a new arrival making them easy to look through. Thankfully you can edit announcements.txt to adjust things quite a bit but still the alert system in general feels very meh.
Kind of glad Lumi is playing the non-steam version.

I played the disk versions almost 30 years ago and it's super buggy.
Can't finish the game because the bugs and I've restarted many times every time I encounter game breaking bugs.
Later I played the CD version and finished it.
Some of the dialogues doesn't match with the voice acting.
But QfG4 is the one I love most because of the gothic and more mature contents.
