In theory it could be great if it means there's a vtuber for everyone. In practice, it just results in everyone fighting over the same viewership and possibility money pool in the same time slots.
Another problem is that most of the content in NijiEN tends to blend in after a while, mostly in terms of handcam or game streams. It loses its novelty unless there's a personality you really enjoy.

nijiEN is oversaturated so having 3-views at this point is expected. Not every streamer in the JP branch is a 4view as well. For the money they make, theyre still doing well. Obvious for indies and small corpos though these are the golden numbers

Very good numbers for the indies, although there are a few that can draw a couple thousand viewers sometimes. Low viewers for the Nijisanji streamer, but she brought in more money in superchats than anyone in Holo EN in November, and everyone but Vox in Niji EN. That doesn't mean she made more money, since it doesn't include all the other shit that contributes to what they bring in, but it's a pretty insane snapshot of this moment in time. So while they probably don't appeal to current vtuber fans, they can still bring in new viewers. There's no evidence of the audience being diluted either, people have been trying to say that since the third EN wave.

Historically, members of Hololive or Nijisanji were expected to reliably have concurrent viewers in the quadruple digits (“4view”). NijiEN now has so many members that several people in the latest generation rarely get above 1,000 ccv’s. That said, even I was shocked when I saw this screenshot and found that Scarle had fewer than 400 viewers.
For the indies, yeah, these are great numbers. Whenever anyone who isn’t in HoloEN or NijiEN streams to more than 1000 people, this board goes crazy. It’s been happening more and more often, as far as I can tell.
Honestly, Scarle is doing fine. Like the other anons said, you can do this as a full-time job with those numbers. It’s just a huge shift from the way things were, say, a year ago.

Also, I just wanted to add another observation. The term “2view” was originally an insult for unknown vtubers nobody cares about, and it used to mean literally two people watching your stream. People still use it as an insult, but now it means having less than 100 viewers, aka a two digit number.
It kind of shows how much more seriously indies in general are taken now than, say, this time last year.

it's a shift for people who didn't know about nijisanji before, box pushing is nowhere as strong in nijisanji as it is in hololive, they tried with nijiEN but it didn't stick because of the way they recruit. the whole group needs a certain degree of cohesion for this to work and when ethyria debuted it was clear they were going for variety even if they played safe for the first two waves

Numerically it's not much but it seems like people have been getting bored with hololive/nijisanji and many just stop watching. Among watchers who want something to watch and unappreciate the fact that people like gura, vox, elira, pomu etc. are always on break for some reason there is a tendency to filter outwards towards the million vtubers from small companies. So a vtuber who was getting 2views is now getting 3views. Not much, but a sharp and noticeable improvement for them personally. Holosanji is unlikely to notice the slow bleed for another year or two until people like miori and pippa are close in views to people like bae and selen. Eve \n then I'd expect it to only be the top small players who touch where holosanji is, but it makes for a more level playing field and less one sided tribalism.
