I am making an attempt at textual inversion/embeddings in the WebUI version. Have made some attempts based on the linked material and online guides but have not had much success. I was wondering what people typically do for a prompt template and for a prompt for sample pictures generated as the training occurs?

Also, when it comes to setting up the images, what is the best way to go about it? Do you trim out clipped images created during resizing, or is it okay to have images without faces? Are a variety of poses/expressions/outfits okay or is it better to have the images as similar as possible? Are the BLIP auto-created captions good or is it better to make your own?

I am trying to make an embed for Ookami Mio and Inugami Korone first if that is relevant.

The optimal amount of vectors will depend on what the embedding is meant for. For example, the model already understands the word "apple" in a single vector. If you gather images of apples and try to train a 2 vector embedding on them you might find that one vector will be similar to the vector for the word "apple" but the other vector would have learned some bias from your training data (like it might be similar to the vector for the word "red" if you only had images of red apples). More training data is good but too many vectors will always learn some junk which you might not expect.

This is all trial and error right now to learn how many vectors an embedding needs. There is no way to know how many you will need beforehand. It all depends on the complexity of the object/subject. Properly explaining how vectors/tokens works means explaining how stable diffusion as a whole works and someone else can do that better than me.

You want just "enough" vectors, less could be considered better. With more vectors you are more likely to pick up random noise in while training and create artifacts.
Picrel is an exaggerated example but thats the noise of too many vectors.
