Oh there's no doubt about it. It always irked me how quickly she rose to popularity. I mean she literally got signed onto a major label 3 years after her debut and got her first collab with an established vocaloid producer a few months later to boot. Unless it's a collab w/ kairiki bear, you generally have to be pretty decently known in the utaite community before you get to collab with a voca-p on an original song.
Makes you wonder if she had someone in the family with connections like Taylor Swift did.

OP here. Already posted my personal favourite utaite here and I'm here to shill for his ass. Love me my Miyashita Yuu kino. I'll probably draw some flak from even more elitist anons, but fuck it, I dare say he's one of the greatest vocalists I've ever heard. Okay but seriously, apparently he mentioned in a livestream that he prefers covering obscure songs produced by unknown vocaloid producers to give them the exposure they need to get famous. Course back in the day it really ticked me off that it meant he wasn't going to cover the popular mainstream vocaloid songs as frequently, and these days? Pretty sure the last mainstream vocaloid song he covered was Galleria a year ago. By now I've trained my YT algorithm so that it shows me <10k subs producers fairly often, but back at ~2019 when I found Yuu (I believe the first cover of his I've heard was this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cikj41pU--I ) it became a great source of new producers to check out. Also the fact that he managed to grow such a fanbase despite focusing mostly on less known songs speaks for his talent by itself. I don't know if there were a way to measure 'deserved' objectively but Ado managed to skyrocket into popularity 3 years after her debut. I mean look at her videos section before ussewa. Barely any covers anon.

Compare that to Miyashita Yuu who started off in 2010 and is pushing his 30s atm. He only just got his big breakthrough 3 years ago in 2019 with Wozwald. Before then, he was considered a hidden gem in the sense that he was only appreciated by those in the community. He was best buds with kairiki for instance who did the guitar work for his voracity cover. Not to mention Yuu sounded awful when he started out, but gradually progressed to where he is today over a decade of pure hard work. That shit's inspiring right there. Wouldn't you agree? To nurture your talent through hard work than to have it from day one?

OP here. I *love* luz. I mentioned him a couple of times up in this thread you can Ctrl+F it. All the talk about versatility made me realize he isn't really that versatile but fuck it. He's a solid singer at his range and he's responsible for my favourite vocaloid project Royal Scandal with Kanon69—literally the only consistent project that outputs jazz vocaloid kino (though its funny how it alternates between a jazz song and then a rock song pretty consistently lmao). He already *is* popular anon. Ever since his big break with wozwald with the tiktok crowd. Enough to work on an anime OP which is the generally the pinnacle of success for an utaite, and he's got good relations with a good chunk of popular voca-Ps (enough for them to work on 2 albums with him). And he already *does* have the same kind of fans that Ado has—deranged tiktok zoomers. I've long made my peace with his fanbase being infested by 'em, because I'd much rather see him enjoy mainstream success than fade into obscurity.

Covers or original songs, which I do listen to, she's just the singer so the only thing that matters is her voice. And her voice is nothing new or unique to me when I've been spoiled rotten by Miyashita Yuu's.
