Collabs are a cancer on the numbers not due to "incels" but because the chuuba made clear to her audience there is someone who likes more and no one wants to see "friend simulator with friends that like each other more than they like you", regardless of gender.

If you want numbers, pay attention to new people.

Stream consistency might help too. Like pick three 3-hour slots each week and consistently stream in those. Adjust slots toward your audience if you feel that helps long-term.

I think most people just collab with bad synergy collab partners. Watching a girls fc Collab is great because they all synergize well. There comes a point where viewers feeling neglected doesnt happen when you put on a good show. However a lot of chuubas don't synergize well with their Collab partners, and it ends up like a discord call with a friend rather than a show. There's a lot of chuubas that are only collabing to do special collab events like media share streams, light RP gaming, and even gaming race streams.

I watch a lot of femchuubas because they often have chatters to talk to which clears away dead air. Navigating twitch for a streamer I find fun can take hours so the amount of time I spend on a single stream is 1/4 of a second.
If there's no voice in that amount of time I close the stream and move on.
Statistically speaking I've noticed that streamers with a active chat tend to lack dead air for whatever reason.
Even collab streamers have more dead air than a solo streamer with a active chat.
The reason I would guess this is so boils down to the vtuber knowing that somebody is watching and enjoying their work and not just trying to collab with them.
