Gura isn't particularly funny. Not naturally anyways. She's no comedian. She has an ironic cut to her humour which certainly appeals to the younger western audience. I can see the appeal but it's not for me. Pekora is just consistently entertaining and can make even the most dullest of games hilarious. The rabbit is just so fucking stupid and devilish. Also another anon mentioned chat interaction which goes a long way. Gura can't even come close to her and it's why she'll never be one of the genuinely big chuubas.

I disagree with the "Gura isn'y funny" bit or that it appeals to zoomers exclusively. I'm in my thirties and I find Gura amusing and funny, and I detect nothing particularly zoomerish about her way of doing things. You all fail to understand that humor, appeal and charm can and do come in many ways. I'm always thoroughly entertained when I watch Gura (and my private rrat is that she's actually a nice girl IRL). Peko is more like a jester or trickster, and that has other reasons for being appealing. Korone's humor I can't explain because nihongo shaberu ja nai, but the FUN is there and it is real, palpable and contagious. I also respect Korone a whole lot. She has that old school Japanese iron discipline and work ethic and I can see that. She's a formidable individual.

Basic point is, you make the mistake of seeing "humor" as a singular descriptor, a quality in and of itself rather than a general multifaceted term of endless variety. It's like saying "fun" is just this or that thing, like a specific object or something you can define in absolute terms. Neither of the two work like that or can be reduced to that.

Not that anon, but I think you're simplifying anons point too much. Pekora is a really good streamer, and is very naturally entertaining, BUT she also gets a lot of numbers because she plays very number friendly games. If other Hologirls with comparable streamer skills, like Marine or Korone, were to play those games, they would get similar, or even better, numbers.

I don't entirely agree, I think a big part of it is that Pekoras personality and humour lends itself very well to games like Minecraft, but you do have to give a bit of credit to the fact that Pekora taste in games happens to be very number friendly

It doesn't take a whole lot to understand what Korone is doing because she overdramatizes her tone, and it only takes a few clips(yeah, I know, just follow me for a second) to know what her tone means live because she is so consistent with her various tones, she's just very expressive in general.

Her voice is iconic, though. It's super unique, and not for the more common reasons of being deep or having an accent.
In a sense, the same is true for Coco, but her voice is...ah, maybe it's an acquired taste, or maybe Pekoras is too and I've just acquired it. I don't know.

Unironically, she uses her chat better than any other holo. You can see how much Pekora can struggle with content where she can't involve chat, and even she admits as much. There's a reason she quieter during content where she can't i.e. collabs(esp group collabs), VR stuff.

She's even literally said about VR that the scariest thing about it was not being about to see chat, and when chat froze during a particularly bad day for her and she couldn't see it moving/commenting/couldn't respond, she literally started to have a panic attack ON STREAM and started audibly freaking out.

Pekora's chat is...important to her, emotionally, on an extremely deep level. I'm not sure how far it goes, but she is dependent on her audience acknowledging and interacting with her to feel "invincible" as she says. She cares about them to the point where she will bait GFE freely with them, pander heavily to them, feel pissed off if she sees any of her fans upset or sad online, and greatly prefers being in her own little world alone with her and her nousagi. She doesn't seem to need much else in her life currently.
