This apex session turned out to be another endurance. He has spent 9 hours in Diamond IV hell.

Watching this astel stream is pretty triggering as an apex player myself, he keep ditching his team in the beginning if he thinks he can't win a fight or he thinks his teammates aren't up to par. He keeps a far distance with his team and refuses to go into a mid range fight with his team together in the beginning. Every time it is pretty much 2v3 and then his team dies and he runs away. This solo style is even worse than aqua, at least aqua keep pinging to retreat when things are going bad and keep a mid range distance with team and supports them and pick their banners if there is a chance. I refuse to be astel teammate if i am watching this stream only kek.

Watching the girls got kind of boring because they all did more or less the same content and with the same style of cutesy voice in varying flavors. I'll watch Korone play a retro game every so often but the rest of them play the same 4 games on loop and feel interchangeable after watching them enough. Few of them really have an appreciable niche anymore and the GFE stuff just isn't for me. Pretty much the same happened with me. In the beginning I would only watch hololive and pretty much ignored everybody else, thinking that nobody would ever come close to them in terms of entertainment value.
At some point I gave the boys a chance and found them to be quite enjoyable to watch. Thanks to the boys, I eventually started watching a lot of other vtubers and all that variety just made hololive feel boring in comparison.
Now I barely even give the girls a glance because most of the time there's someone more interesting doing something more interesting.

I used to watch the girls but lost interest along the way. The NO MALES, felt weird and I can't imagine being enough of a neck beard to pretend any of them are my girlfriend. They're Also too isolated in general.

The boys really hooked me with their dedication. I love a good underdog story, they're entertaining, and they feel more connected to vtubing as a whole, with their autism being the main hindrance to collabs outside the company instead of purity/big leaguing. None of the girl's can beat the Ast-hell experience.

I think once I started watching Astel and various Holostars collabs I came to realize I enjoy their personalities and synergy more than the girls, though there are a few folks in Hololive I still keep up with, like Pekora, Iofi, Reine and Ollie to name a few. ID in general seems much more willing to collab with the boys, which is cool.

And unfortunately as much as I know it shouldn't affect me, the fanbase for a lot of Hololive's talents just really make me cringe and make it somewhat hard to enjoy some streams.

Yep, same here, pretty much agree with everyone else. Got into the girls through a bunch of clips and thought it was peak entertainment. I gave the streams a spin for a while then kinda realized that it gets a bit stale and boring, it felt like I was just watching the same stream for the hundredth time.
I started watching a couple of the stars like Oga and Roberu out of curiosity after a while. I wasn't really blown away at first, but I liked them.
I really started realizing I enjoyed the boys more when I watched Rikka's uno collabs and then watched Roboco's a couple days later; Rikka's were just so much more entertaining to me. Seems a bit silly, but that was the first time in a while that I had so much fun watching a stream. I felt like I was completely missing out on some great content.
Another aspect that I really like about the boys (mainly Roberu and Rikka for this one honestly) is that I can find talent outside of holostars through their collabs. I forgot how pleasant it is to discover somebody new and interesting since I was just so used to seeing the same faces over and over again.
Since then, I discovered Gatchman, Mayuzumi, Yashiro, Ponpoko, Tenkaiji, Meika (I can't get enough of his laugh), etc. Something about all of their content just feels more genuine(?) compared to the girls for me. I'm not sure how to describe it. Perhaps their personalities just mesh better together or perhaps it's the sheer variety of things they can do.

I agree with most of you in general, especially about the fact that Hololive seems to run around circle, and it has been made painfully obvious especially since around HoloFes2.
But it also kinda means that Cover failed if they made people aware that things are at least as fun outside the company than inside, thanks to the boys. Ultimately, that fact means that less attention time is reserved for HoloPro, which results in less superchats and merchs money.
Seeing Roberu's growth especially is inspiring and feels like outright from an anime. The other Stars are also really fun to follow as well, I would never have believed a few months ago that I would enjoy Temma's streams so much, he is going all out lately. Rikka is delivering so much like a boss, especially since the beginning of the year. I just want to root for all of them and I wish they never forget where they came from.

Same, I actually found out about Pochi, Ruri and Animare thanks to Roberu's collabs with them, same with Meika and his little arc with Astel and Izuru, it's really fun seeing them interact with others and getting to know other vtubers via their collabs, makes for a pretty good first impression to catch the initial interest, and their collabs do feel significantly more fun than the girl's with the same game, Among Us is the perfect example, the boy's AU collabs are a fucking riot.
