Vtuber companies are not idol talent agencies. They do not see themselves that way and they do not act that way but as entertainment companies.
Vtubers are not anime culture or anime characters. Besides that there are huge differences between the primary and secondary/western markets there is little overlap. 2D focused people in the west usually do not like vtubers because they are too real, too 3D, and they aren't like their anime characters.
Current fans of vtubers have a lot more in common with the target market of chaturbate, myfreecams, omeagle, furries, and Twitch's ASMR and hot tub sections.
