I would love a twitch streaming thread to discuss this, but we are on a vtuber thread on a vtuber board, so I will say I think the great vtuber Nyanners should charge twitch for her being on twitch because without her I'm of the opinion that many viewers wouldn't have come to the platform. For example if Nyanners were to move to a smaller website I think a pretty chunk of twitch traffic and advertising revenue would simply disappear. When I say good chunk I mean comparible to my own stream which has never reached affiliate, or above .23 ccv.

If you can't stand the smell stay out of the kitchen.
There's very few channels I would want to collab with and they would likely never invite me on. Especially because I'm not the type to slide in a DM or Discord. I think collabs are messy, and best left to the corpos to try to take on. That's just my opinion. There's a few collabs that I've watched that are good I'm sure. Well the meat coqui Smurf collab was really good, but you can tell that a lot of planning went into that collab. Seems like most colllabs I encounter are done on a fuck it whim from a dry discord call gone pushy.

I'm of the opinion that covers are not beneficial to vtubers or the original creators of the music. Keep in mind that I write songs though and that it is in my best interest to sell songs to vtubers that they can sing on their stream. Covers are competition.

there's some that are good in their own right (personally I really like Will Stetson/Rachie because I'm a fan of translated covers) or ones that change the interpretation of the song (see: pop goes punk, postmodern jukebox) so they do have their own merit
there's also just people whose voice you like more than the original (see: okayu's cover of flos being so good that I forget how the original sounds)

Covers are nice maybe for a couple of days but feel very disappointing overall for me personally. It doesn't help that the songs don't get into the streaming services. (Apparently distrokid can deal with cover stuff if you pay them 12 dolaroos/year and you need to have your own backing track (can be a problem with comissions because now it's for commercial use). It can be something interesting to look into maybe?)

Maybe it's just because I watch Koragi's streams almost every night but her cover of Watame Lullaby has completely supplanted the original song in my mind, to the point where if I hear it I'll think something sounds off. Vtubers should consider partnering with their local small cafe shops. Especially if your stream consists of making live music. I imagine a sports bar wouldn't need you or your content (no offense) but those small ma and pops cafe business organization shops would probably welcome a content creator to make something for them to put on their shops TV. If you make paintings then they can put your art on their shop to decorate it and if anyone buys the painting you get a cut. I imagine the cafe could pay you in coffee and snacks. What more can a vtuber and viewers want then to architect their favorite vtuber my dear? Have a bite.
