What is /asp/?

A thread for aspiring vtubers! Whether your goal is to make the journey as an independent streamer or to gain experience and build a portfolio for agency auditions. Let's help each other grow and make it. Indies are welcome to selfpost, but shill responsibly. Share your knowledge, insights, feedback, discuss what has worked and what hasn't worked for you. The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

On a scale of spicy foods how spicy are these? I've been eating a bunch of them since my mom gave me an entire shelf full of them. They're pretty spicy to me but not horribly so. Mine has no label on the side though but should be the same type of noodles.
I see spicy food challenges a lot and just curious where I stand and how spicy of food I'd have to get. I dont eat lots of spicy food outside of this specific brand of ramen because I never really thought spicy food makes a difference. Honestly I still don't really see the appeal of spicy food since it adds basically no additional actual flavor except pain and my life is already full of nothing but pain so that's not really a useful flavor to me. But you know those streams where people eat spicy noodles as a punishment, in comparison how hot are those compared to these and would I likely die from eating those? And in general do people like spicy food streams or is it just a punishment game thing that people like watching girls hurting themselves, I get that because I used to like the /meat/ threads before they went away and was tempted to become a /meat/ tuber but not in like the self harm way just in like drawing fanart for the related thread. But I guess the similar fetish applies for punishment games.

Anyways how hot are the noodles and is it relatively spicy for a food?

I'm trucking along because I want to do this, it's very hard for me to make motivation to do anything, but the moment I take anything past the concept stage I stop being raring to go and just take things slowly and lazily, no all-nighters, no forgetting to eat because I'm too engrossed in my work, I just do it like a second job that I'm choosing to do instead of being forced to to live.

but niji and holo have both talked about it, and in the past they usually audition with the silhouettes revealed in advance.

both companies the talents claim they have some minor input later on, so things like accessories or minor expression things. but the design is already made.

Who is the actual audience for Male vtubers on Twitch? Their designs are either the most vanilla "generic shojo-man" in ordinary clothes or utterly disgusting abominations. I can't figure out if the designs actual appeal to women or if they just managed to find an audience. Most soulful design I've found so far is dude with what looks like a runescape dwarf singing sea shanties.

Big corps are basically auditioning for the character archetypes that will fit the various characters that have already been made, its not really all that different from casting for a movie really.

I think the reason they do it like this is because of how long it likely takes to design, draw, and rig a very high quality live 2d. Especially the designing phase probably gets stuck in corporate meeting hell getting redesigned and changed over and over again. And all the really good riggers and artists are so over worked and backed up these days being able to get a 5 man gen of chuubas to all be finished at the same time might take 6 months or so I bet. So auditioning and just having the talents sitting on their hands for half a year is just not something you can do.

Some of the best sounding advice I have heard for auditioning to the big corps is just to go all in on trying to play a certain stereotypical character archetype and hope that one of their already planned characters will fit that archetype well.

Thats wrong tho. Auditioning for a film, you go in and you already know what the character you're gonna audition is, their backstory, their dialogue, how they should sound, etc.
While corpos sometimes show their models for you to audition for, its not always, and its more like fitting your personality into one of these drawings theyve already made.

If it makes you feel any better, no one here was qualified to join in, its a very high bar of wanting people that play popular e-sports games at pro level AND that have background in content creation/streaming. People I've seen online decided to opt out and not even apply (and I know the whole "you miss 100% of all shots you don't make" but at the same time, sometimes you just know its not the right wave for you) because of what they were clearly looking for.
Also, not sure why even apply to Nijisanji, they seem to have the most extreme filtering process of them all, and I can't blame them. I'm in other aspiring vtuber discords (not associated with 4chan) and the ammount of barely 18 yo girls that applied to this wave, putting on a very painful deep voice that didn't even sound like it could pass for a boy, was outstanding. They waste people's time so Niji has to resort to filtering.

I applied for fun, it seems like a good time despite already having a big community, I wanted a change of pace. Stars is kind of a different situation I think, doubt they had as much budget or care put into them. Its quite obvious that a lot more polish has gone into every hololive debut since, fuck, at least gen 3 than anything in stars ever. However, I don't think the designs for any of tempus are bad (as far as design goes, vesper is the worst but not horrible), the blame for the scuffed live2ds are the artists seemingly being inexperienced in creating for live2d projects, and to a lesser degree the riggers themselves. For example the artist for Magnis, whose model is certainly the most fucked, had never created a live2d model before. Some examples I can think of, of men who are very popular among women in the animu-sphere; Levi/Erwin (AOT), Gojo Satoru/Nanami Kento/Sukuna (JK), Uzui Tengen/Rengoku Kyojuro (KnY), Kakashi/Itachi (Naruto), Law/Ace/Zoro (OP), Howl (Howl's Moving Castle), Sebastian (Black Butler), Roy Mustang (FMA), Jojos and their Jobros (JJBA).

If you want more examples, head over to /cm/ and see what kinda characters and art get posted there. Be wary that most female consumers are not openly into shota and there's a bigger backlash for women who are into it outside of 4chan.

So I went to twitch.tv and checked out the vtuber tag and here are some thoughts. I grabbed a couple of the male tubers I saw.

worcestershire sauce here has an "okay" design, it's decently drawn, but it's a bit too manhwa for me. I clicked his stream and he has a decent voice, but I am not sure if it suits his character. Guys who have these types of voices tend to be a bit coomery, so I'd probably skip out on this guy personally.

TIGER ON THE PROWL sounds more natural to me, and his design is cute, he's also listening to citypop, which I like, so I'm probably gonna end up following him. His design appeals to those who like cuter types of men though, he's not quite ikemen.

CLICK NOW BIG NEWS has a bit of a lackluster design for me, it's too close to twinky/shota types of designs without being that entirely, and the outfit is not my type. His voice is okay, but doesn't fit the character. He's currently raving about art stuff, not sure if I like the vibe, a pass for me.

Mommy Genshin Feeds Me has a really generic design and I personally do not like it at all, the rigging is a little lackluster too and the art itself is a bit flat. It might look better from a different artist. He has a nice voice though, and seems to be reasonable in what he talks about. But I'd probably not watch actively unless he gets a model upgrade.

Co-Dee's sploot grind to ranked has the worst design of them all, the art is lackluster and the outfit is lackluster. However he will probably win some points just because he's British, but the character design is just... not it.

I have 0 knowledge of /here/ to be honest, if you want I can give my thoughts on some designs if they're posted here, but that's all.

What I can say is that Tempus' designs were horrendous, but their personalities saved them.

The majority of the NijiEn boys have decent designs for the female attracting archetype, with an exception of Kyo, who looks too much like a female model. There are fewer female femboy enjoyers than male, I believe, his personality wins him back with regular female fans though.

I think of all the NijiEn boys Ren Zotto probably has the best generic ikemen design, while my personal favourite is probably.... Mysta, personally.

However, Vox is number 1 for a good reason and its because his gimmick and personality matches his visuals.

My menhera is overflowing. Maybe one day I'll get back into my groove.
Every time I think about starting up my stream I worry for hours that I'll be too depressed to be entertaining or unable to think of conversation topics. Then when I muster up the courage to go live I am so happy when my viewers show up and talk with me anyway and I remember why I fell in love with streaming. But what if they don't show up this time? What if I just have a depressing stream where I'm too lethargic to be entertaining and give those few loyal viewers a subpar experience.
