She's good, but I have to admit that I look forward to Yomi's more. At this point, what's the difference between an utaite and a VSinger?

>> No.3345204

>>3344922
A consistent and persistent character that they use as their face, as well as a certain level of divorce from their real self? It's an interesting question, since you have ぼっちぼろまる who isn't shy about showing his 3D body, if not his face. Would Daft Punk be counted as a vsinger? If not, would them using a Live2D at some point have qualified them?

>> No.3345260

>>3344922
I'd say that a VSinger is still a virtual character. Example being Yomu and Kasuka being Yomu and Kasuka and not whoever is behind the avatar
An utaite that uses an avatar just doesn't like showing their face, for example Ado has an avatar, but she has no problem using her face or giving in-person interviews. Or others who do not differentiate between the character and their personal life on twitter.

>> No.3345305

>>3345204
>Would Daft Punk be counted as a vsinger?
No, since their personas are not virtual.
>If not, would them using a Live2D at some point have qualified them?
No, since the "physical" them (as in Daft Punk, not the people behind the mask) and the "virtual" them are one and the same.

>> No.3345419

>>3345260
But you have crossovers with people like Yomi and Kaf talking about riding the train or spending time in school on Twitter, or AZKi tweeting out pictures of the food she's made, and I don't think anyone is going to argue any of those aren't vsingers. They don't keep up a strict kayfabe all the time, nor is that even really expected.

Hachi's entries in AZKi's event undoubtedly helped from the standpoint of discovery, but they're arguably not the reason for why she's been inclining pretty hard recently. I'd chalk that up to three things:
1.) She is very good at live singing. Many of the people who participated in AZKi's event don't do any live singing and a lot of the ones who do aren't the best at it.
2.) She has been streaming frequently. No matter how good of a singer you are, if you only produce content on an irregular basis and only stream maybe three times per year (as is the case for most hobbyist Vsingers) you are not going to retain the people who discover you.
3.) She's an amusing person. It's some next level gap moe to see someone who has such a beautiful voice and sings so proficiently almost constantly flub her songs because she tripped over the lyrics or couldn't stop herself from laughing at something.

>> No.3441718

>>3440834
Not bad, though the effects she uses on the chorus to try and mimic Kaf's very distinctive sound don't do her any favors. It makes her sound a bit shrill instead of on note to my ears, but she does a good job during the verses. However, on the verses, she's a little quiet relative to the backing track, I feel. During the bridge where the music gets quiet and there's no heavy effects on her voice, though, she shows that she's not a bad singer.

Nothing in particular, I like their song Virtual Reality, but they're also much more hip-hop then most people who hang out here are talking about, with Boogey Voxx being a pretty notable exception who also has Ci's great singing to work with. If you like KMNZ, though, you'd probably like Midi.

That's understandable. Better than finding out there's some bad blood or something.

Reminds me of AZKi quite a bit, with how breathy she gets at point and how much emotion she puts into the song. You can hear how she's almost at the edge of tears in the last stretch. However, she has that very distinctive Kami sound where she's trying to be more mysterious and aloof, I feel. I'd love to hear her put more power into things, since she showed some hints of being very good at it around the middle of the song. I'll reserve judgement until we hear more from her.

So what are people hoping for from the Hololive Vsinger, musically? Do you want Western pop styled music being made by someone with a virtual avatar, or do you want to see more Japanese styled songs in the vein of idol, jrock, and jpop with English lyrics, or are you hoping for them to be in a more unique genre such as metal or EDM?

But speculation is fun, and gives us something to talk about to keep the thread alive against the swarm of shitposts that are going to be made about whatever happens this evening. Personally, I'd like to see them be a bit more Western focused in their song writing, taking inspiration from Broadway and musicals since they're kind of the modern opera when it comes to showing off your voice, but I also would hope to see them branch out and do a variety of things instead of sticking to just one or two genres. It's always cool to have the juxtaposition of ballads and dance music on the same CD.
