There's a small chuuba who's been streaming for a couple years. She appeals to lolicons and sadists, and makes a point of being a bottom. She directly and indirectly encourages chat to ask disgusting and weird questions and to bully her, and then gets genuinely upset when they ask weird questions and bully her in a way she doesn't like. I think "topping from the bottom" applies here.

She complains at length semi-regularly about people who have done slightly rude things to her. Things that are ordinary parts of being online. She changed models and then deleted all her VODs that had her old model. Her mods are now deleting comments of people saying that they liked her old model better. She has also added a tsundere gimmick to her persona in a way that seems forced and overdone. She simultaneously tries to be both edgy and politically correct, and tries to play off her irrationality as a feature, not a bug.

She definitely has some things going for her as an entertainer, but I think she may just be too complicated and sensitive, and her viewer count has been dropping steadily for the last two years.

What's up with the obsession over her old model? Can she make it as a streamer?

I will take this opportunity to shameless shill myself, hello! While not exactly /fit/ by definition I play a healthy (heh) number of exercise games on my channel. Since I've started streaming at my starting weight of 268 lbs. I've lost a total of 106 lbs. with a lot more to go.

If you're looking for some truly /fit/ vtubers though Shimada Tiger is a very inspiring vtuber who is big on fitness. She typically showcases her workout program during her pre-gane zatsudans. Fighting games are her passion and I feel as though she's one super transformation away from becoming a fighting game character herself.

And then there's also Tomoe Umari who just recently did beginner's primer on fitness (https://youtu.be/g4q05n5x-O4).). Her job as an army stable master makes it difficult for her to stream, but her shorts and pre-recorded content are both humorous and informative. Her debut is scheduled sometime this month and I'm excited to see her long form content.

Going back into streams and hunting for your own clips is both boring and menial, even with tagged moments. On the flipside, there is no replacement for the exposure and connection that clips will get you. This makes them both less likely to be made and also more valuable than other content placing the clipper as the most power and valuable viewer.

Next, art. Skebs for the same quality as even the most basic scribble will still run you 5$, but at the same time art is a skill that many chuuba don’t have under their belt. It’s not something the artless chuuba can replicate or do without given its effects on the stream (community creation, free advertising on all platforms, connections with other chuuba by combined arts, moral boost) and so artfriends come second after clippers.
*You can replace them for money or if you have talent; that means in some cases for a chuuba that can do art but is small with a slow chat an active chatter would be more valuable.

Lastly active chatters. Even the most powerful active single chatter cannot make or break a stream. In fact a single over active active chatter can drive people away if they don’t strive to interact with the other members of the chat. In addition the role of a chatter is to create and curate the live experience that streaming stands out for (if not just watch vods). However clips, reactions, art, and a wide number of things that contribute to growth have no connection to the chat. Streamers that explode do so based on their content, and their videos not the small words hanging on the side of the screen. On top of the lower comparative value to the streamer as the chuuba grows active chatters will become a dime a dozen. You will be reduced further in value as the supply increases. It’s not to say active chatters are bad, or that they aren’t valued but speaking objectively they offer the least of the three options.

Also if you want to stand out as an artfriend maybe try a more unique format; sculpting, painting, graphic design, or special styles will all make you pop from the crowd. The result is grabbing the chuubas attention and pulling the attention of others towards your chuuba exponentially increasing your value.

Didn’t originally think about that. The chuuba can edit clips on their own, and while it requires a bit of effort I think that the editing and cuts/audio/effects a streamer chooses says a great deal about their content and personality. It also helps them to understand pacing and grow their control over humour/reactions while live.
You can have someone edit clipped content but I fear without an existing catalogue of edited footage both the steamer and their viewers will lose something special. Then again the clip editor doesn’t replace that it supplements it.
I have disproved my own argument in the final sentence of the post I tacked on while editing.

Also while anyone can clip I’m 100% convinced there are less people doing good clipping of small-medium content than there is good artists. Meat still does all her own clipping on twitch iirc.

Believe it or not, there was a time before facecams, when you were considered weird if you insisted on putting your face on the screen when eveyrone just wanted to watch a game. And the first genre where that started to change was horror games. I used to hear "scarecam" more than I heard "facecam," even. It's fun to watch someone experience an intense human emotion like fear, which is enhanced if you can literally see the fear on their face.

People watch streamers to relate to another human being, in one way or another. That's why vtubers are a thing to begin with. People wanna have a facecam, because we relate to one another through faces and showing your face gets people more engaged, but some people don't wanna show their actual face. Hence, anime girl face instead. Seems like your range of expressions being limited to whether your eyes/mouth are open or closed doesn't hurt people's ability to read emotions into your face.
