The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

If you can manage it, longer is better in my experience. Usually my numbers peak after 2 hours. I think generally it takes a while for people to trickle in to a stream. A lot of people will just afk or put the stream on a second monitor and stay for hours until you end the stream or they go to bed or something, but collecting these people takes a long time so the longer the stream is the better. I think long streams also lend themselves to higher likelihood that people will follow.

I would say its a good idea. Lying about stuff like that to a new company would surely cause problems later on when you get found out. And there is no way you wouldn't be found out eventually, small corpos share viewerbases way too much to hide it forever. Part of the problem is because of differences in socialization. There will probably be hints in the way you talk that you don't even notice that people will pick up on. Those things will be ultimately repulsive to them and they wont stick around. Partly because of their decidedly male socialization and partly because of not-like-the-other-girls syndrome you'll find a lot of trans girls stick around where cis girls won't. Even the way most anons slip up in how they talk about LGBTQ+ topics or labels is going to repulse most cishet women online that are around your age. That's normal. Most people click away within the first 5 seconds of watching your stream, usually filtering by voice first, then content. And if you say anything weird they immediately leave if they aren't already invested in you.

I'm a very tolerant person, but i'm equally cruel to streamers. You compete with carefully curated creators and content that people could spend their time with, they don't need to settle for anything less than content that's perfectly suited to them. I don't really care about LQBTQ+ topics in particular, but i do watch some trans streamers, because they don't make it part of their identity nor even really talk about it. That's pretty much a fact of life though, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Maybe just be aware that if your personality is making jokes at other people's expenses and just being generally rude, that most people might not want to listen to that.

I think another factor that might lead to trannies following me is that I stream very niche things that honestly have very large appeal to autistic people. And these kinds of things have pretty low appeal to women and autistic people are very much overrepresented among trannies (like there are studies about this and everything). I seriously don't talk about politics or anything controversial, I'm mostly trying to go for a light hearted jovial bartender kind of feel. Any one of those things could be described as luck, for example, it's 'luck' to get several dozen viewers, it's 'luck' to get a viewer who happens to find something they like in your stream that retains them, and yet it's still true that there are factors, variables, in control of the streamer that can influence the bias of the rolls. Conversely, any one of those things can simply be described as a consequence of streaming often, and streaming longer, rather than plain luck.

Face it, Knight Chase got right, what so many /asp/ies and /wvt/chuubas and indie streamers get wrong day after day. The funniest part is nobody had to tell him to stream as long as possible (5 hours) and as often as possible, he was just smart enough to do it. Sure it exists as advice to stream for several hours if you can, but it's rarely mentioned, and when I've mentioned that 16 hour minimums are ideal in the past the first time here in /asp/ I'm pretty sure I got several negative responses. Only Knight Chase does anything right in this circle and it seems mostly intuition, introspection and meditation.
