Now that we've witnessed it ourselves, Korean vtubers can also be lovable and even doing better than some JP or EN. What's your opinion on them? do you think they're capable to compete, or even potentially dominate the market?

I don't dislike Koreans because I'm not a Japanese nationalist. But I don't know if there's actually a real market for them out there. The ones you all mentioned speak Japanese as a second or third language so it's not as if they're aiming for their home country's audience.

I don't really get why you guys are so quick to deem everything some massive failure though. I mean Fubuki was by far the best performing member of Hololive gen 1 and it took her the best part of year to get to 100k subs and her viewer numbers were still only a few thousand most of the time whilst most of the other gen members struggled to maintain even 1k and took even longer to reach 100k. Now a couple of years down the line with some growth Hololive is huge.

In fairness, the KR branch while not doing gangbusters in terms of views is still performing within Ichikara’s expectations commercially. I don’t think they wouldn’t have put out later gens if this wasn’t the case.

Korea seems to still be a dead market, the recent wave of Niji KR debuts barely topped 1K for the most popular one (the one that spoke some English). If Hololive debuted a branch and had some bilingual KR/EN/(JP) speakers they'd probably do about as well as the Indonesian branch. Decent but not enough to kickstart a vtuber revolution in the country or anything.

The one country that have the most potential after Japan and US is Indonesia. They don't need to attract JP and EN to survive. Sure they can be more successful by focusing on EN like HoloID does, but Niji ID and their local MAHA5 seems to be doing good by focusing on their local market.
