As an ignorant non-Korean EOP, I can safely say that Korean is in fact easier to learn. If you know their alphabet, you can read everything so long as they're not using Chinese characters. And because their moonrunes correspond to specific sounds/meanings, you can type whatever you don't know into le jewgle.

In contrast, Chinese characters are schrodinger's hieroglyphics. You need to be able to recognize the difference between Chinese, Japanese and Korean just to identify their specific meaning, pronunciation and corresponding pinyin/kana/joseongul, as well as which one of those to use. The entire purpose for adopting them was to standardize a writing system for international commerce, but the fact that they're not made with phonetic building blocks and require pure rote memorization is exactly why God King Sejong decided to just make his own language because he wanted his people to learn themselves some goddamn books.

Fact is, Korean was literally created for the sake of facilitating efficient written communication between elites (who were groomed to jerk off to hanja from birth) and the lowly illiterate peasants who didn't have time to drill over 9000 hanja into their skulls due to having to actually work to survive. Meanwhile Japanese Vtubers and Prime Ministers still struggle to figure out when they should use lol'yomi or fuck'youmi kanji readings because Japan, in its infinite elitism, doesn't actually care if its own leaders are fullly literate.

tldr Japanese fluency is a meme and you're not meant to be fully literate, while a Korean who doesn't know joseongul either has a learning disability...or is a disgrace to their ethnic heritage by just never bothering with it.

I gave up learning Japanese because of too many Kanjis and memorization is not my forte.

I don't know that much about Korean language history, but what I have heard(similar to the story you mentioned), I think Korean language has a pretty good history. You can correct me if I'm wrong.

Not necessarily because the game is good, but more that her commentary is hilarious, mostly centered around making jabs at the shitty translation. Also the longer you watch Liora, the more you'll realize that she's got a real high powerlevel: idol cafes, gundam, old anime, she knows all of it and talks about it often too. Benefits of being a hag I guess.

Sometimes I've seen streamers use only formal language and their chat does as well, on other occasions, I've seen chats where the streamer and chat are completely free and really informal, so it depends. The vtuber in question (Hiyoko) isn't a part of any Org or Corpo. Plus with her being a minor, I doubt she'd be able to sign a contract, regardless. That being said, she does have strong ties with the Project Connect affiliated vtubers, well in that they share a common audience. Either way she's an indie by all accounts.

Project Connect isn't a corpo. The whole thing's kinda complicated, has to do with escapees that left a different exploding corpo. Suffice to say that their viewers don't really like corpos in general so Project Connect is more a conglomeration of vtubers who share the same audience. Also on the point about things getting sour behind the scenes, I guess that could be a distinct possibility. With viewers increasing overall the competition is getting tougher, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone did this to try and attack their competition.

I wasn't convinced before, but after watching some Liora streams, I can tell she has a good head on her shoulders. She'll make the right decisions I'm sure.

Also, not to diminish your own experiences but it depresses me that the yab you mentioned wouldn't even be close to the biggest yabs that have happened in the KR scene. Guess the EN scene must be relatively clean by comparison.

Dude, /pkg/ management was so considerate to their talents and they beg her to stay just for 2 months and after that she can graduate. Yeah, it shaken them that time during the thanks to Nami, she handled the situation like a pro. Now, /pkg/ has back to their own feet and has new interesting talents.

Theoretically yes, but because of the nature of streaming it's basically impossible. At one point or another from the endless hours of streaming some part of a person's real personality will show, regardless of how good of an actor they are. This is pretty much an inevitability with all vtubers given enough time. Maybe other anons here have a different opinion though.

Yeah but even people like Vinny and Jerma don't share literally everything about themselves. And even for famous Esports faces like Faker, they mostly keep to themselves, you know? It just happens to be that streamers who don't show their faces (namely, vtubers) would have a greater interest in keeping their private lives to themselves more.

I mean yeah. If you know about the NijiKR incident then pretty much every other vtuber drama pales in comparison. The closest any other drama has come to reaching it's level is the Rushia yab and subsequent graduation or the Coco Taiwan incident, and even that is only comparable because of the scale of the incident. In terms of the severity and long term damage caused, the NijiKR drama easily outweighs both by a metric ton.

Search the archives for "Ara Chae" should give you an idea. But the basic summary would be:
>Get into NijiKR 2nd Gen
>Shittalk talents, gets collabs banned, send personal DMs, leak info and dox, etc.
>Get sued by 8 other vtubers that are sick of your shit
>To add insult to injury you sue your own fans as you leave, trying to destroy the community that supported you
>Literally cause a relay of graduations to happen because of your bullying causing more than half the branch to disappear
>Basically kill NijiKR and NijiID, both branches were absorbed after the drama happened, most likely because the company noticed how much of a shitshow KR was.
I wanna add that this wasn't even the first time shit like this happened. Originally NijiKR was a different company that was bought out and then made into NijiKR. The owner of that company, Moarin also happened to be a bully, who in the past actually caused someone's suicide. This basically stunted the entire branch right at it's inception. Despite this a lot of NijiKR fans (me included) wanted to cheer on the good vtubers left, because it wasn't their fault they were dealt a bad hand. I remember things looked like they were recovering and even getting better when the Ara Chae shit happened. I remember a lot of good fans going completely schizo and/or becoming vtuber antis when the betrayal happened. I don't blame them, but a lot of vtuber drama communities were created at the time and a lot of people became more interested in the drama than the streams because of it, and that legacy still haunts the scene even to this day. You have to remember that the Ara Chae stuff happened over the course of an agonizing months with graduations happening left and right every week, and by the end of it, a lot of people lost their minds or lost interest in the medium entirely.

Anyways, search the archives, I would have probably ranted about it somewhere. There's a lot more but I'm too tired to recall all of it. I hate to say it but at one point I was a huge fan of Ara, and it hurts me a lot that everything ended up like this.
