Why did people hate Gear 5? It wasn't like the fruit was that invincible since Luffy had it with him since the start and has lost plenty of times in fights before facing Kaido. I thought the series was pretty clear that training a fruit is better than getting an OP fruit from the start and not training at all.

Well, Wano has ended and no Yamato joining with the possibility of Carrot stowing away to join Luffy and not be the leader of the Minks are on the horizon as we head toward the final arc of the series. New World wasn't as good as previous arcs but at least there is an end in sight with the author still around to have input unlike a current dark fantasy series where you have to guess if it was what they really wanted.
