Genuine question, why is there so much tribalism around VTuber companies? I've genuinely watched all three major ones (Hololive, Nijisanji, VShojo) and a couple of the minor ones (idol, PC, etc.) and while I didn't really enjoy all of the chuubas I've watched, I understand that they have their own audiences that I don't have to be a part of.
Why do people feel the need to defend a company when someone else says that they don't enjoy them? I don't get it, they don't have to enjoy it, and neither do you have to enjoy what they watch. That's why the VTuber field is so big, people can find chuubas they actually like.

This board is inhabited by many underage kids and zoomers who copy the zhangs shitposting because they think its cool. The chadposting threads about how they only watch clips or just shitpost about vtubers in /vt/ is proof of that.
I personally like hololive as a family and unless someone is graduated or terminated I think becoming an anti will probably also make my own oshi sad. Everyone has their own taste on what chuba they enjoy and consider their oshi, numberfagging is cancer. Zhangs used to think "Aqua hates Coco and likes us even if hololive management is forcing her" and I am not going to replicate that. No one in hololive hates other holomems(if they did management will eventually get rid of her).
This behavior then extends to hating nijisanji and vshojo and them hating us. I don't hate them, I quite enjoy vshojo jp and niji jp(and even some occasional enna or ironmouse clips). I don't have any issue with holostars either, I enjoyed Astel 3D.

That's the problem. People CAN'T find chubas they like BECAUSE there's so many vtubers and discoverability is a crapshoot. Didn't even find this based bro until years after he started vtubing. Instead, there's a fuckton of samey as hell deviantart OCs showing up where the designs and personalities aren't any sort of drastic departure from one another. The market is flooded with cheap vtubers, resulting in overchoice and making it difficult to discover better, smaller chubas that actually have real interests and niches beyond "GENERIC VARIETY STREAMER." So when people find something they like, they rabidly defend it for fear of not being able to find something else.

The only ones at fault are vtubers themselves FOR BEING SO FUCKING GENERIC as well as the normalfags who support their lack of individuality. Rather than having a great many choices that are all relatively the same, people would rather have a few good ones that are drastically different from each other so as to cover a variety of hobbies and interests. tldr The democratization of vtubing was in fact the worst thing to ever happen to it.

Limited mass appeal, so all the corps are fighting over the same fairly small audience. Vshojo, Niji, Hololive all have different appeal and lot of the fans/viewers don't want cultural overlap.
