There's been many instances where they had 1-2 hour gaps and their retention was just fine. Obviously overlaps kill ccv, especially within the gen, but new gens always bring in new people. It's the same shit people were crying about when Council debuted, how they were gonna kill Myths numbers with overlaps. It's not easily apparent because the timezones are so separate so they don't have much effect on everyday streaming but they absolutely can help to raise the ceiling on special events like outfits and lives or bring more people to large multihour events like the minecraft festivals and mariokart tournament. People are there to watch their oshi. Once she's out or has no chance there's little point in watching. Talent > company is the mindset.
It also doesn't help that the majority of content Cover themselves put out is stale recycled JP tv formats, meaning that when they do something "innovative" the audience wont be there since they assume it will be trash.
Events run by talents are different, since you want your oshi's event to succeed, so you're more likely to watch all of it, even if she isn't the focus all the time.
