I think it was more like the timing of putting it around other tragedies/disasters as a lineup. Like, it being there after all those other actual events, evne though it's a joke, prompts the audience to think "what was tragic at a supermarket" and apparently people thought Buffalo.

Even for people who get that it's a reference to her shopping cart rant, the fact that it was put next to actual tragedies made some people think "based she snuck that in on purpose" etc. So that's why she's going out of her way to say she had nothing to do with the planning even if it makes her look kinda dumb.
