The tempus numbers have made me realize that actually the silent majority of casual western Vtuber watchers are way more into the unicorn shit than I thought. The tempus homos are really popular on this board as well as reddit, whenever they're streaming the homoEN thread here becomes one of the fastest in the board and the reddit virtual youtubers general megathread becomes basically just their stream chat, and yet their numbers are still underwhelming compared to other EN vtubers who don't get the same traction in those kinds of places. The only explanation I can find is that the average casual viewer who just watches streams on youtube and doesn't participate in the online shit flinging is unironically more into the pure CGDCT unicorn idol experience than the hacker known as 4chan, which seems pretty unexpected to me.
