higher order functions suck
sure, maybe you're smart enough to use it correctly, but then in a month some junior engineer looks at your code, doesn't understand it, and fucks things up with their changes
at least a third of software engineering in industry is making your code resistant to human error

>> No.2950211

>>2950062
Higher order functions are functions which operate on other functions. For example, the "map" function applies a given function to every elements of a list, array, tree, or any other similar data structure. The "reduce" function, on the other hand, uses a provided function to combine all of the elements of such a data structure into a final result, such as summing a list of numbers, or combing a list of lists into one giant list. There are many such functions, which can replace 99% of explicit loops you might write by hand, removing the possibility of something like incrementing the wrong variable, or flipping the comparison.

99% of loops you're working with maybe?

Also good luck on using the same algorithm for an array and a tree without runtime polymorphism or 3-fold performance overhead, you Jimmy Neutron.

Compile-time polymorphism is a thing, you know, you just won't find it in languages like Python and Java like you use. Besides, network calls, disk access, and cache misses are far more important to performance then the exact construction of your loops for any system larger than a single machine.

It's Claire-sensei, who is noted to look like Ellen Baker.
Nothing serious happened to her. It's more about the unfortunate circumstances that her students (Gamebu) graduated while she stayed behind. Even more tragic when you consider that her model debuted before the VA change, so she effectively lost her students twice

Akatsuki Uni is worth mentioning too. Always covers interesting topics and does her reaserch properly. She follows scientific research, reads new publications and then discusses them on streams from time to time. I particularly like how she went out of her way to scientifically explain why are people attracted to "otoko no ko" (femboys) just as an add for a video game. :https://youtube.com/watch?v=hoO298FWo7s

i kinda want to do something like that, but i'm by no means an expert on the subject matter i want to talk about, nor do i have a team who can do the background research needed to make sure i'm getting things correct. so i spend a ton of time fact checking and barely making any videos.
