So what's the deal with Korone's accent? Everyone always says that she has some sort of weird accent, but I honestly can't tell the difference between the way she talks and most other Japanese Hololives/anime characters talk.

Can anyone explain what exactly is so strange about the way she speaks?

>> No.2941225

strange pitch accent with inability to pronounce Japanese "r" sound. That's about it

>> No.2941326

her accent is really strong compared to the normal japanese so called 標準語 and absolutely different from other holo members or plebs irl in tokyo for instance. it sounds similar to some tohoku accent but its actually a mix of a few accents.

Japanese uses an alveolar flap. It sounds kind of in-between the scottish R and an L (the normal one, not the 'dark' one). That's it. Arguing over whether it's an L or an R is kind of pointless because what "kind" of sound a phone is depends on phonemics, which are different per language.

I'm not surprised that some people think it's more of an L than an R. If you're used to rolling R's, then the Japanese R may sound more like an L than an R to you.

>> No.2962360

I thought Korosan had a tutor

>> No.3004066

Korosan's Japanese is original.
At worst, it is a pseudo-country dialect.
She assumes it is an imitation of her grandmother, which does not belong to any local. The words "orayo" and "dadena" are not used in rural Japan, but they are similar to internet slang.
Pecola and Princess Luna are more likely to be associated with the use of unique language, but overall, I would say that Ms. San is more unusual.

Also, it may not be known to foreign nikki that it is actually Commander Noel who has a real glimpse of a local accent.
