Why isn't there an English-speaking equivalent to Nijisanji or Hololive? Honestly, it's bizarre how not a single real competitor has popped up yet. You'd think there'd be tons of companies climbing over each other to be the one to corner the western market, but no one seems to be putting in any actual effort. It seems like such a ripe, juicy fruit right there for the taking, yet no one's interested in it.

The market isn't as big as you think it is and no company is capable of risk taking ventures right now.

There's Tsunderia and Prism. And the you-know-what vtuber group that this board hates passionately.

Have you seen the state of this board? Hololive has practically cornered the western vtuber market

Tsunderia is more promising now.
I think they have the ingredients to be the next competitor to Hololive but they're still in a transition period.

This. 1 million subs from both Japan and English speakers is literally nothing. Vtubing is not nearly as significant as you think it is.

It's a japanese centric fad and you're wondering why no western corp has invested money into it?

Galapagos syndrome. The west developed "traditional" streamers while Nips developed V-tubers. It's the same reason Japan developed it's own type of animation and video games during the 80s through 00s. It just happened that there is a significant market for English speaking V-tubers in the west that was mostly untapped until Holo-EN.

Significant in this context does not mean large. HoloENs viewership has plumetted roughly 50% since debut. Most streams except Gura's do not break 10k anymore. Sure there are hundreds of indies but anyone who thinks the western market could sustain as many talents as Japan to the same level of success is delusional.

Arent both Tsunderia and Prism composed entirely of asian talents?
Probably why they're actually good.

At least for Prism not entirely, Rita and Aoi are probably not asian.

Tsunderia's a sinking ship, Prism project's investment into red Gura is not paying off, and NijiEN is gong to compete against VShojo for their audience. How is fighting for scraps in the western market supposed to inspire confidence in old Japanese businessmen?

What a braindead post they don't even share the same target demographic. VShojo the group is basically twitchthots with anime avatars so thats where the coomers go meanwhile NijiEN audience is going to consist of holofags looking to branch out from Hololive to something more lax and they're already aware of the Niji brand name thanks to the continious collabs they do with Hololive

Why dont you consider VShojo the western equivalent? Is it for its 'no auditions, friends-only' approach?

>>2818467

That's a start for sure. Most if not all EOP agencies startups. It will take some time before they become decent alternative to HoloEN or VShojo.

From what I've seen they've been working on a Gen 2.

All the Gen 1 members and Purin are getting new outfits this year also.

Purin is finishing a song cover and all Gen 1 already have song covers.

I wouldn't call it quits just yet but maybe we'll see in 2022.

It's called Hololive EN

But Japan has normal streamers too...

>> No.2830196

Not anymore, anime is mainstream now. It's only a matter of time until the general normalfag weeb populace learns about vtubers.

>> No.2830586

>>2830196
Only big title shounen type stuff is mainstream. The super weeb/otaku level stuff like moeshit, idolshit, and whatnot that vtubers are based in is still seen as weird by the normies and surface level anime watchers.
