Coco absolutely wasn't honest about the reason she left, my guess would be how every stream the chinese would spam her chat, and harass anyone who collabed with her, and didn't get any real support from the company for dealing with any of this, despite being a top earner. What reason to stay would she actually have? especially considering how big of a cut of income they're taking, how little support they're providing, and how she has an audience dedicated enough to follow her out of hololive. None of this is to say hololive is a "bad" or "evil" company, but there really didn't seem like much incentive to stay

The spam was the least of her problems. Her personal accounts were getting spammed and Coco's was completely spamproof by the time she graduated. The real problem was Cover's handling of the entire situation was a complete shitshow. Instead of letting her do a proper apology they just suspended her and let the chinamen's anger fester and seethe for weeks. Yagoo stepped up to apologize himself, but instead of actually explaining the situation and dispelling the conspiracy, his apology was vague as fuck and pissed them off even more because they made the Chinese version slightly different. And then their idea to deal with the shitty situation they created was to block Coco from making the content she loves and from collabing with her friends. And while this is going on she's basically paying them tens of thousands of dollars every month, and all they're doing is making her miserable. Once she realized she was having more fun streaming kusoge to an audience of ~300 on Mildom it was over.

There were 2 events that kept escalating situation
1. that "fuck you and never come back" this bring back a lot of them since they viewed as her provoking and ignorant
2. aqua singing that leagues song kept them motivated like adding oil to the fire, if you don't know the most active anti is the aqua fan and the only one that still spamming now is the head translator of her channel, they called her something like holy emperor (lol), which other anti use this against her

Aqua's League of Legends song was definitely the bigger factor. There were people on NGA who were making threads there claiming that they never heard of Hololive until they heard that cover and the "story" behind it motivated them to join in and spam in order to avenge Aqua. Coco probably could have literally naked dogeza'd and pledged allegiance to the CCP and they would still spam her after that got uploaded.

So this outcome isn't a surprise to me at all but is a reminder that people lionized her and built up her image to unrealistic degrees beyond what this girl is actually like. She monetized the shit out of this debacle and just laughed all the way to the bank off of Holo fans' real feelings and outrage. All her behavior both before and since Coco only ever painted her as a garden variety ethot.

She is not so much a tragic hero as just a dumb hapless ethot who wandered into shit that Youtube and Cover were unable to resolve and then monetized it as a boo-hoo story. PPT moving out after she joined, which she defended as her own decision FYI, should be the symbolic end to treating her sanctimoniously as an ex-Holo. She never deserved to get attacked by zhangs but I don't think she really learned anything from the ordeal. You can say she doesn't owe Cover anything but she shouldn't shit on their name either by joining another corpo specifically after she had said she wasn't gonna, a year to the day after she retired Coco.
