The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I'll be streaming in a few minutes, not a quality stream, just filling my vod space.
I'm playing Titan Quest but muted because there is noise around me that I can't deal with while I myself shouldn't be making noise. So this stream is really just me playing vidya alone in the dark as an excuse for trying out a bigger bitrate, resolution and framerate, to see if it holds up. If it doesn't I'll restart with lower settings until I find the right ones.

I've been thinking about giving vtubing a try, I do enjoy commentating my gameplay. However, I am unsure whether I could keep up regular streaming, and the feeling of getting watched by people really makes me feel tense and exhausted. Playing around with a model, and roleplaying a character sounds fun and probably makes the whole "getting watched" part easier to deal with, but I still have my doubts on whether this is something I should invest money into.

Doed anyone else here have similar troubles/worries?

One thing I've noticed semi-recently is the informal friendship groups that often spring up in chuubas. Often it's around five streamers, starting from an online DnD group or something, and they all pull each other into streaming. Then, one of them gets bigger, and they all end up in their orbit. They have a (minor) inbuilt network, and it's a big buff.

There's a few I've noticed this for, and I'm now wondering whether I'm part of any, looking in.

Well this is weird. My stream was a very slow slideshow, practically stuck on the same frame for over a minute. But my voice was going through fine.
And the weirdest thing is that internet is very fine, the game was running smoothly, it looked smooth on OBS, but whenever I checked on it on another device it was broken.

Not looking at the bigger picture, a mistake that most of you /asp/ies make. The biggest donator has followed her for 2 years and that amounts to less than 3 dollars a month seeing as this is a list of the top donators overall. All her donators combined don't even put her high enough to get a Twitch payout even if you include the overall gifted subs. She probably has had one payout that was barely tipped by a few normal subscribers. Assuming she's made about 200 total, which is being extremely generous, that's less than 50 cents an hour for the 470 hours she's streamed. It really isn't that good.

I have a couple of regular viewers that show up to watch my streams, and I am truly grateful for their viewership, but I feel bad for them because I feel like they're stuck watching an awkward and boring dude that doesn't having any interesting anecdotes to tell on stream. Whenever they talk to me chat, the best I can respond with is "yeah thats true dude", it feels like it's difficult for me to give more interesting insight to their talking points.
