Bear in mind I didn't follow them but there certainly was stuff. They featured in all the major international collabs, they were in nijifes, they were in the nijinyanji thing, they were getting clips on the official EN subs channel and doing a bunch of other collabs between branches. Probably the real mistake was making the branch in the first place for a market that didn't exist with a group of streamers that didn't stream very much for whatever reason. When someone can only manage to stream once or twice a week like that they're hardly going to get good growth.

Not really. Most curious about Niji EN don't really watch JP or the other branch's that are still around. If it succeeds it will probably be it's own thing and have no synergistic boost that'll help the other branches like it did for hololive. Speaking of subs, I've actually noticed a slight slow down that is happening across the board. Outside of karaoke, or special events to get more subs, subs for vtubers has slowed down by a lot. From an archivefags opinion, we might have hit a saturation point. What would take 4 days to hit 10k addes subs for a popular vtubers has dropped to taking a week. In the worse, using Anya as an example, it takes her 2 weeks to get 10k subs. I'm sure this will change once Niji EN and new Holo En debuts so it might just be nothing. Would've loved a race between Gura and Kizuna to 3 million like with Pewdiepie and T-Series but that seems like it will be much slower battle to get to there at the current pace.

Guess you're both right, I've been following everyone in the branch since ye olden days and if anything it feels like even the smaller streamers in the branch are remaining pretty stable now around 100 or so viewers now, not even mentioning Hana's numbers and Cia/Bon's bretty gud numbers being stable around 200+ on average.

Guess I'm just scared from this news. They all mean a lot to me and I don't want to see anyone cut for low performance. But if I think about it logically they'll probably be fine, it helps that they get a lot of dedicated support both from each other and those who do watch them, even if compared relatively to other big name vtubers they don't have the best n u m b e r s.

I think the problem is the opposite. NIJI is too loose with everything. Talent, hirings, creating new gens, new branches. They only really start providing structure and support to the talent once the talent has enough of a following and actually has a go getter attitude. Agreed. Despite the narratives, Ichikara does provide at least a baseline of support for lower sub members. The problem is those members don't really have the right attitude to want more than what they already have which goes back to my point in regards to recruitment.

Just think about it logically for a second to run a branch you need all the infrastructure that goes along with that. In the case of a small branch like IN all that infrastructure is existing just for them 3. In the case of the JP branch one more when you've already got hundreds the relative cost is going to be lower because the majority of supporting structure for any one member is going to be in place already either way. Basic economies of scale type stuff.
