The anime illustrator industry is a lot about clout and people knowing your name. How do you objectively grade art? You can't. Maybe some super popular artist looks like shit to you but everything he touches becomes super profittable and popular. Maybe an artist you like is very unknown. What I mean is, how known your name is determines how much you can charge. Twitter follows, likes, known artists talking to you, all of that has an impact on how much you can charge.
