Sometimes I unironically wonder whether kanatan ever tried to off herself or commit self harm at some point. It always sounds like she went REALLY deep into depression and self-abandonment during her post-meniere's-pre-holo period. I remember her even saying that she didn't want to talk much about it because people would probably be put off by it. I don't want to speculate on a topic like this or anything like that, I was just wondering if I'm the only one who gets these vibes. Like she was in a really really dark place during that time.

Related to that I feel like people often forget that it's not just about being deaf. Things get so distorted you don't hear them the same way as others. Not only it's a complete destruction of all your singing experience, you never hear songs like they're meant to be ever again, including your favorites. For someone who considered music their life it's practically ego death.

Not gonna lie, watching kanatan since her debut really felt like watching a broken person picking up her own pieces and rebuilding herself from he ground up. I'm just really glad she's come so far. It scares me to think what it might have been like if she'd never found holo. She's strong, so she'd probably have found some other way, but I'm still glad this is the way she found.
