The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

Would you want someone to point out errors or fuckups on stream?
I always want to point out little things I notice, but I don't want to come off as critical or anything. I only want to help them improve.
I mean potentially easy fixes, like the overlay not being aligned properly with some blank pixels to one side, or mic cutting out and dropping half the story when it's a 2view trying to talk to themselves.

That's specifically why. They have 100% of your attention. I was in the same boat when I started and had a whale constantly donating hundreds of dollars despite me barely having 10 viewers. He's eased off now that I've grown and he's found other chuubas but this guy alone easily gave me 2k total.

Yea, the artist has a free model and I'm trying to convert it to VRM before I purchase one of his unity models for real.

Yes, VRMs have limited shader availability. Not sure if you know what shaders are but in simple terms they're those orbs you drag on to the model that apply the texture to it. They have do all kinds of shit and have lots of values that change how the texture looks on the model, but VRM has its own and it sucks.

If you want to do just a bit more work to make it look good, try converting the finished VRM (make sure you're 100% finished, going back is a pain in the ass) look up the youtube guide by Deet on how to convert VRMs to VSF then you can use all those shaders your model came with your model on to the VSF before exporting it.

Glasses definitely alter my eye shape in Vtube Studio but it's not extremely noticeable. For reference my frames are rectangular and thin. I have contacts but I don't often use them cause they're a huge pain to put in.

Anyone here who's dabbled in tiktok content? Trying to create clips from VOD's so I can just double dip into tiktok and YT shorts, but don't know too much about the platform and what may perform well.
What posts generally have done well for you guys besides when the algorithm throws a bone your way? Gaming clips? Shitposts? Trend hoping / wiggles? Looking at the vtuber tags on tiktok only really brings me the biggest creators who's numbers will be big already no matter what they post.

im not planning to be a streamer, but recently i finally acted on my desire to make a live2d model. i've got a fully cut-up model done and a solid chunk of the basic rigging complete. the rig is really basic, and i definitely screwed myself over by making the design too complex, but learning how to do everything has been a blast. i hope one day to be able to make models for other people as commissions.

I'd imagine it's the same as any setup so I can't think of any advice that'd be specific to the Quest2. Just in general though I'd say do some private (no category, no title, etc) streams of you just cruising around worlds and pretend interacting with your "chat" and camera, figuring out good angles, etc and watch that back to see how it looks.

I have, and have seen others have, a "you done goofed, streamer", redeem for 1~10 channel points. But if you'd rather not post it in chat, absolutely DM them.
I actually DMed another streamer last week, because she was debuting as her first ever stream. "Hey, so I know this might sound condescending, but it trips a LOT of people up... Have you made sure to turn your VODs on, else Twitch will scrap them"

So, two things I've found work better for tiktok:
1 - using tags excessively. I tagged one of mine with 'vore', and it got about 10* the number of views.
2 - Tiktok content. Clips are fine, but you get more traction with wiggles and tiktok sounds than with good plays or funny moments in stream.

My singing has gotten noticeably better since i've started to take singing lessons and doing singing exercises at home rather than just singing stuff and praying I sound good. Did a short test with the Audio Settings from OBS's native filters and reaplugs VST's, i'm really suprised by reafir's capabilities. I read some article i had open for a test.

1. raw test no filters (that is my CPU fan for the most part)
2. reafir + comp + expander
3. all of the above + slight EQ (low frequency boost, almost unnoticable)

I think everyone has done these at this point, but in case you haven't it's really easy to do and increases the quality of the audio at the very least if you have a noisy room. I now only need to get proper sound-proofing because my room is way too large. Might also have to consider upgrading my mic, but this one sounds ok to me still and the only conceivable upgrade i could do is an XLR mic and i really don't feel like buying 3 new things just to get marginally better audio quality, which i probably wont even be able to tell zzz.

reafir subtract changes the sound a lot, you should see if low+high pass filters and a downward expander fixes things first.

you can try eqing -3-4dB on 600Hz to see if it helps with room sound, but cheapest way to reduce noise is to move the pc out of the room

Yeah that makes sense, measuring the CPU fan it's actually around 40dB which is absolute insanity, but expected from a stock amd fan. I could get a decent noctua solution, i can't move the PC outside of my room because i only really have one room and the logistics of moving it into the bathroom is kinda overkill for something that is rather minor.

I'll have to keep looking for stuff, but this fan has been pissing me off anyways so maybe this is a good time to upgrade, luckily they aren't the most expensive thing in the world. At this point it's a pretty insignficant thing, but fuck you can spend a lot of time on this.

It's not even the top 10,000, more like the 1-2k at best. The only people with 70/30 splits are old Legacy e-sports contract people that got washed up and just stream variety for fun and the biggest of the big (XQC, hasan, asmongold, shroud, etc). Even vtubers with a few thousands views have come out saying they don't have the split and girl_dm was denied at 1500 viewers and Ludwig didn't even have it yet despite having tens of thousands of viewers BEFORE his subathon.

The "incentive" for more money from ads is laughable and no one will be running 30 hours of adds for an extra 60 dollars at the end of the month. These changes are just a big nothingburger, enough so that even the top streamers who think they'll be losing tens of thousands to HUNDREDS of thousands a year don't see it as an issue for them because they've got numerous other avenues of income and some can make the money back off of just a few sponsors.

I haven't even attempted it because I've had no need for it, but having known two skilled Unity programmers who have tried while working alongside a a guitarist and a drummer, the closest you'll get with the more basic home solutions is the hand placement and even then, anchoring it still has some huge issues because of arm placement, even with a a decent IK. It's technically doable with tracking gloves and a tracked guitar which is what they ended up going with, but even then there's so many issues that come up during a live performance.

Here's the meta. Don't sit in a dark room, ideally use a keylight or two to prevent reflections from your monitor.
Use thin and larger frames.
If you do these things, glasses won't fuck the eye tracking up much. The only thing they have trouble with is if you tilt your face up and down too much.

Yeah, today I tested out some non prescription glasses. Large with thin wireframe was what got me the best (I didnt have large and rimless, I'm guessing that would be the best.
Worst glasses are my prescription glasses, medium size with thick plastic. I can't even get the model to blink properly unless I'm dead-on staring at the camera. Looking at the bathroom mirror the problem becomes apparent, slightly looking up or down makes the frame hide my pupils which fucks up the tracking.

This week I:

- got gifted a PS4
- got hooked up with someone who can help me put together a great gaming/streaming computer
- finished all my reference docs for my character design and confirmed with the artist
- made progress with voice work

It probably seems like a really dumb idea to attempt vtubing from scratch, but I'm having so much fun just having goals and something to look forward to doing. Plus I'm excited to try using my career skills in a context outside of my industry.

Initially I was hoping to pass with a masculine voice but I don't think that's in the cards. Regardless, the resources on trans voice work have been super helpful in understanding how to use my larynx, soft palette, weight vs size etc. Good example (skip to like, an hour in, whenever they pull out charts): https://youtu.be/rvet1PwCoGY

I've been making notes about vtubers whose voices I like vs those I don't and have been practicing speaking in a way that sounds more pleasant than my natural speaking voice and it's getting easier.

Also, don't laugh, but I watched Yugo Asuma's stream on vocal training and have been doing the warmups and it makes a difference too.

Lastly, doing a bit more cardio to help with breathing/lung strength etc.

I don't post on /asp/ as much as I used to, but I wanted to drop by and wish current and future /asp/ies the best of luck. I started streaming a few months ago and I'm slowly but surely learning my ways around everything.
That aside, I have to confess that while I'm learning and growing confident in my abilities to entertain people, I feel like I wouldn't make it into a corpo, at least not right now. I can't sing very well, my hardware limits me in what games I can pay and I'm not very talented in any other field; but if people are tuning in to watch me, regardless if it's only 2views, that means I may have something to offer after all. That makes me appreciate my regulars even more, and being told that my personality can carry a stream gives me hope that I can actually make it.
Don't give up, /asp/ies. Even when you're doubting yourselves just keep going.
