A number of reasons are bandied about, but the important part is that she started forcing a super nasally high-pitch voice. It's come down significantly over the last year or so but she still keeps it nasal. -Apex yab. She was playing Apex early in her career and a guy's voice rang out on stream. From what I understand, odds are high that it was either a rando teammate or a Discord friend of hers, but either way it provoked a pretty sizeable response. Towa tried to claim it was a manager, but that fell through and made things worse. She saw an extreme drop in Japanese viewership and most of the other holos seemed to give her a wide berth (notable exceptions include Roboco, Fubuki, and Coco). She's since pulled herself out of that hole. Oh, fun side note, a very small number of people tried to claim that the male voice was a boyfriend or something. That's long fallen apart, but like I said earlier, you can always find some retards right here on 4chan.

Gen 4 was never close, it was Coco / Watame / Kanata with Luna and Towa left on the sidelines in the beginning. That fell apart quickly to become Coco / Kanata with Watame doing her own thing too, she eventually formed Bakatare with Fubuki and Flare
Towa is one of the only holos that actually bothers to invite others for collabs, which made her the face of gen 4 by default because Coco stopped inviting others for collabs since they'd have to deal chink spam

Gen 4 is pretty solid all-around but they have better chemistry with mems outside their gen.

Towa has Sui, Watame has bakatare, and Luna has ShubaChoco. Kanata is kinda a jack of all trades in this regard where you can put her with any group and she'll function well, but her strongest pair was always Coco. Kana Towa is a good mix but they don't collab often enough to make it a thing. Still, she pulls strong numbers solo and her originals are bangers.
