I think it's moreso if you're strong, then bad timeslot is something you can overcome through brute force.

From what I've seen from King, his numbers don't change that much whether he's starts at 8pm or 11pm, but maybe that's the nature of FPS games.

The argument against this is, they're usually playing debuff games so it looks extra bad.
There has been a disproportionate amount of HoloENs overlapping with debuff games in recent months and a lot of potential EN viewers are not watching because they aren't interested. Giving Ame a overlap-free timeslot just so she can play Doom to 4k people isn't worth it.
If anyone in EN3 does a buff stream, the overall numbers will increase and Ame won't even suffer much.

The alternative to not debuting new gens is to keep the status quo, which is clearly not inclining significantly since we've been staring at this 40k cap for months.
