Roberu is kind of an emotional dildo. For whatever reason, he's considered safe to flirt with. He's a top tier collab partner, he knows what he is and isn't allowed to do and doesn't take things the wrong way, and for fanbases never get much bothered by him. In effect he just gets passed around by different talents for play date streams.

You don't really ship Roberu but you also don't really worry about him. If he comes out with a relationship, I'd wager more likely than not that it'll be with someone he's not much associated with on stream.

At the time (2020), Pekora was pretty much the biggest holo and Pekorafags comprised a large amount of the hololive thread on /jp/. Pekorafags would shit up the thread endlessly, but one of them one would stand (The Pekoraschizo). Eventually, some random poster (most likely a Roberufag) would get fed up and make edits of Roberu dealing with Pekora (punching, throwing her in a gas chamber or garbage bin). This enraged the Pekoraschizo and some Pekorafags who would create their own OC of Pekora dealing with Roberu. Eventually, the resident Roberufag would paint a mustache on a screenshot of a hologra image of Pekora (pic related) to denote that he was personally calling out the Pekoraschizo. They of course retaliated against Roberufag. This ended with all Pekorafags along with the Pekoraschizo when they were given 3 day bans by the mods of /jp/ (the threads saw a great increase in quality and decrease in posting speed during that time). Roberufag and Roberu essentially became the resident saviors of the /jp/ Hololive threads and thus his popularity as well as his approval as the only Homostar that was allowed to be posted in /jp/ Hololive threads cemented his position of popularity.

Holostars get new outfits, gens, competitions and have less restrictions where they are allowed to Collab with streamers outside Hololive more openly, have their own Hologram series, Yagoo regularly interacts with them.

Hololive really wants stars to succeed, but this entire idol thing is the biggest debuff stars could ever get. So I'm hoping that once StarsEN releases, at least the EN audience can not repeat the same mistakes as the JP audience does and actually actively give StarsEN a chance.

There isn't any collab ban. Having said that people who are accepted into Stars have near 0% chance to be collab beggars, they likely have a filter for that.
