The Kanata thing is a running gag, the storyline is that they went from 'superdarling', or super supportive of each other, to gradually becoming play-perenially-pissed at each other, or 'gomi', where they've been acting out having a grudge with each other for a while now.

I personally do have an especially strong interest in collabs, especially ones where Marine really elevates her partner(s).
